LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt’s availability status for tomorrow night’s game has been upgraded to questionable.

Republican U-S Senator Bill Cassidy is not in support of President Trump’s proposal to give every adult American five-thousand dollars if the Republican Party maintains control of Congress after the mid-term elections. Cassidy says the dividend checks will add to the country’s out-of-control debt…

Cassidy says the five-thousand-dollar dividend will actually cost Americans more money, because it will increase the U-S national debt, which is at 40-trillion dollars.

 

One of the main issues in the sixth district congressional race is who lives where? Baton Rouge Senator Rick Edmonds says a complaint has been filed with the attorney general’s office against one of his opponents that claims New Iberia senator Blake Miguez’s primary residence is no longer in Senate District 22 which he represents in the Louisiana Legislature. Edmonds says Miguez is telling voters in the sixth district congressional race he lives in Baton Rouge, which is more than an hour away from District 22…

Miguez’s campaign says its Edmonds who is lying about where he lives. They say Edmonds lives in Mississippi near a church where he preaches. Edmonds says that’s false and he has lived in Baton Rouge for decades and travels to that church every Sunday.

LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt was upgraded to questionable for the Tigers game against Ole Miss this weekend. Leavitt participated in practice yesterday after being limited on Wednesday and initially being listed as doubtful.

Record crowds are expected in Oxford for Lane Kiffin’s return to Ole Miss after leaving the school for LSU before the playoffs last year. Tigers linebacker Whit Weeks says he’s excited for the Tigers’ first road trip in a hostile SEC environment, but he doesn’t know what the crowd has in store for Kiffin.

Sally Stiel with the LSU Alumni Association says she hopes that won’t stop anyone from having a good time.

UL Lafayette takes on UAB tomorrow night after losing 49-30 to USC last week. Head coach Michael Desormeaux says the Cajuns did not get the outcome they wanted from their trip to California, but the experience can be good down the road. He says the team needs to have a mindset that it is never good enough.

UAB beat ULM 26-20 last week. The Warhawks will look to get their first win tomorrow when they host Southeastern Louisiana.

Louisiana Tech is heading to Baylor for a second straight road Power conference matchup. Two backup quarterbacks will start as Trey Kukuk fills in for Blake Baker and Nate Bennett replaces Florida transfer DJ Lagway.

Devin Lippold will likely get another start at QB McNeese, who is at UTRGV.

Louisiana Christian looks to knock off another F-C-S opponent this Saturday as the Wildcats visit Southern.

Thousands of LSU fans are enroute to the Oxford area for tomorrow night’s big game between seventh ranked LSU and eighth ranked Ole Miss. The LSU-Ole Miss rivalry is always a big one, but Sally Stiel with the LSU Alumni Association says this year’s matchup has a different feel because of all the drama around Kiffin’s departure.

Much of the nation is also interested in this Top 10 showdown. Josh Barton with Bet-Online Sports and Casino says millions of dollars have been wagered on this game and it’s just not on the point spread. Barton says they are also offering bettors several unique prop bets…

Louisiana is receiving national recognition for the restoration of a barrier island off the coast of Grand Isle. Cade Voisin has the story…

Twenty homes had to be evacuated this morning in Jeff Davis Parish because of a gas pipeline burst west of Jennings. Sheriff Kyle Miers says the evacuation order has been lifted as the leak has been sealed off, the methane gas in the line burned off quickly and air quality tests came back clear.

Many LSU fans are on the road this morning to Oxford to support the Tigers against Ole Miss. Record crowds are expected for the top-10 clash between LSU and Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin’s homecoming. Sally Steil with the LSU Alumni Association says she’s already heard from thousands of fans.

Because this is expected to be largest number of visitors in Oxford for a football game, Mississippi Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell says they’ve tripled the number of officers on duty…

Two of the candidates in the sixth district Congressional race are arguing over where he each other lives. Rick Edmonds says Blake Miguez should have to give up his state senate seat, because he no longer lives in Acadaiana as he’s telling voters in the sixth district he has a home in Baton Rouge. Miguez’s campaign is firing back, accusing Edmonds of actually living in Mississippi, where he pastors at a church in McComb. Edmonds says he lives in Baton Rouge and drives to Mississippi to preach on Sundays…

Both Edmonds and Miguez are Republicans. The Sixth District race will be decided in a November third jungle primary, with a December 12th runoff if no candidate receives a majority.

The search continues for escaped inmate Tre’Veon Jackson.  Caddo Parish Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. issued a statement yesterday saying Jackson remains at large and authorities have no location on him.  He’s asking citizens to remain vigilant and call law enforcement if they see anything suspicious and warning anyone who thinks they see Jackson, not to approach him, but to call 911 immediately.

Hundreds of thousands of fans and visitors are expected to descend upon Oxford fortop ten matchup between LSU and Ole Miss.   And there will be more security than usual. The increased police presence comes as LSU coach Lane Kiffin returns to the fan base he left for LSU at the end of the last season. Mississippi Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean TindelTindell says he understands emotions are high, but any misbehavior from unruly fans will not be tolerated.

A Jefferson Parish Jury has found two people guilty of racketeering in the death of reporter 27- year- old Adan Manzano who was found dead in February of 2025, while in town covering the Super Bowl.  Danette Colbert and Rickey White were accused of drugging Manzano, so they could steal his money, which prosecutors argued lead to his death. Colbert was found guilty on negligent homicide charges, but the jury found White not guilty of manslaughter.

LSU’s trip to Ole Miss is one of the most anticipated games of the college football season, and that’s been reflected in the betting world. Josh Barton with Bet-Online Sports and Casino says  the top-10 clash between the Tigers and Rebels has received more action than any other college football game this weekend.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety is working with Louisiana and Mississippi State Police to enhance security in Oxford as eight-ranked Ole Miss hosts seventh-ranked LSU this weekend. Commissioner Sean Tindell says the department will have around three times the typical number of officers on duty.

LSU Quarterback Sam Leavitt reportedly practiced yesterday and has been upgraded to questionable for Saturday night’s SEC opener aOle Miss. It was reported on Wednesday that Leavitt was batting a sore shoulder. It’s now being reported Leavitt missed practice on Wednesday because of back spasms.

Earlier in the week, LSU head coach Lane Kiffin said Ole Miss has two Heisman Trophy candidates in the backfield, quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and running back Kewan Lacy. Tigers Linebacker Whit Weeks on stopping the Rebels dynamic duo…

UL Lafayette takes on UAB tomorrow night. The Cajuns are coming off a 49-30 loss to USC last week. Freshman running back JJ Garner flashed in the loss with an 18-yard run to lead off the team’s first touchdown drive. Head coach Michael Desormeaux says he’s been impressive.
