LSU has picked up a couple of commitments from defensive linemen in the transfer portal. One of the them is Malik Blocton from Auburn, who is ranked as one of the top ten defensive lineman in the portal. He’s six-foot-three 300 pounds and registered 34 tackles, 8.5 tackles for a loss and two sacks across two seasons. Former South Carolina edge rusher Jaylen Brown has also committed to LSU. Brown did not play for the Gamecocks in 2025 because of a knee suffered last spring. He started his college career at Missouri and appeared in five games for the Tigers.

Former Union Parish football star Trey Holly says he is staying at Southern. Holly had a good freshman campaign for the Jaguars, rushing for 869 yards and nine touchdowns. He’s still facing gun charges in Union Parish for a shooting that took place in his hometown of Farmerville two years ago. Holly’s trial is set to begin in late April.

One of the main reasons the Saints feel good about their future is the play of Tyler Shough, who went five and four as a starter during his rookie season. General Manager Mickey Loomis….

Tonight is the College Football semifinal game between Ole Miss and Miami. It is being played in Glendale, Arizona, the site of the Fiesta Bowl. There are two LSU coaches that will be helping the Rebels tonight. They are offensive coordinator Charlie Weis and running backs coach Kevin Smith. Head coach Pete Golding says offensive coaches Joe Cox and George McDonald are now full-time with LSU.

The Saints are getting ready for the offseason and there is a sense of optimism in the air because of a strong finish. General Manager Loomis says winning a division title is one of the organization’s biggest goals for next season, but he expects the team to do even more.

Loomis feels good about quarterback Tyler Shough going forward, but it remains to be seen if aging veterans Demario Davis, Cam Jordan, Taysom Hill and Alvin Kamara will be a part of the 2026 Saints.

 

LSU landed a commitment on Wednesday from one of the top receivers in the portal, and he has experience making plays in the Southeastern Conference. Eugene “Tre” Wilson is leaving Florida for the Tigers after catching 107 passes for 1,043 yards and ten touchdowns after three seasons with the Gators. The Tigers have signed ten players out of the portal, four of them are receivers.

A high school football star from Baton Rouge has signed to play at Tulane. Quarterback Zeon Chriss has signed with Tulane after spending last season at Houston. Chriss signed with U-L Lafayette after leading Madison Prep to a state championship in 2020.

The Pelicans lost their ninth straight last night as they fell to the Atlanta Hawks 117 to 100. New Orleans is now 8-31 on the season.

The 12th ranked LSU women’s basketball team looks for its win in SEC play tonight as they visit a one-loss Georgia team.

On the men’s side, Louisiana Tech hosts a good Liberty team. The Ragin Cajuns host ULM. Both teams have just three wins on the season.

LSU has yet to sign a quarterback. Former Arizona State Q-B Sam Leavitt has been in Baton Rouge since Monday, but will reportedly head to Tennessee today. Washington’s star QB Demond Williams got in the transfer portal last night, and LSU could be his destination.

 

Despite missing the first five games with a calf injury, it turned out to be a good season for former first-round pick Chase Young, who recorded a career-high ten sacks. Young is playing for his third NFL team and believes he has found a home in New Orleans…

Before the season began, Young signed a three-year contract extension with New Orleans.

Brutal first half for the LSU men’s basketball team as the Tigers dropped to 0-2 in the SEC with a 78-68 loss to South Carolina. LSU trailed by 25 points at halftime and shot just 39-percent from the field.

The Pelicans lose again, despite a career-high 42 points from Trey Murphy New Orleans fell to the Lakers 111 to 103. Lebron James had 30 for L-A.

LSU football has received a commitment from Old Dominion wide receiver Tre Brown. He caught 38 passes for 762 yards and four touchdowns in his one season with the Monarchs.

One of the state’s best high school players this decade has found a new home. Ju’Juan Johnson, who was a running back at LSU the last two seasons after a record breaking career at Lafayette Christian, has committed to Syracuse. Johnson has two years of eligibility left.

U-L Lafayette quarterback Lunch Winfield announced on social media that he will be back with the Cajuns next season. Winfield’s emergence during the season helped the Cajuns secure a program-high eighth straight bowl game.

In college hoops, big wins last night for Nicholls, McNeese and Grambling. LSU men hosts South Carolina tonight. Tigers point guard D-J Thomas will miss his straight game due to an injury. Lady Tigers fall to 12th in the latest AP Top 25 poll.

The Saints are not in the playoffs for a fifth consecutive year, but finished this season winning four of their last five games, to give the fan base some optimism heading into next year. Rookie quarterback Tyler Shough believes the team is headed in the right direction.

The Saints have failed to make the playoffs the last five years, but finished this season winning four of their last five games, to give the fan base some optimism heading into next year. There were a couple of thrilling games in the Southland Conference last night. The Colonels stayed undefeated in league play with a 74 to 72 win over Northwestern State. Jalin Rice’s two free throws with five seconds left was the difference. Chip Burnt missed a 31-foot three-pointer at the buzzer for the Demons. Micah Thomas had 29 points in a losing cause for the Demons.

McNeese won its 20th straight game in Lake Charles, but it was not easy as the Cowboys took down Stephen F Austin 66 to 64. The Pokes were led by Larry Johnson, who had 18 points.

Also last night, Southeastern Louisiana defeated Lamar 60 to 52.

Grambling is off to a 2-0 start in the SWAC as the Tigers defeated Texas Southern 84 to 67, Prairie View A-and-M outscored Southern 89 to 85.

LSU men’s basketball hosts South Carolina tonight. Tigers point guard D-J Thomas will miss his second straight game with a lower leg injury. Tip off is at 6 PM.

Shough finished the year throwing for 23-hundred yards, ten touchdowns and six interceptions.  And the Saints will have the eighth pick in the first round and wide receiver will be a priority for New Orleans.

The Saints could not finish the season on a five-game winning streak, as they fell to the Atlanta Falcons 19 -17. The Dirty Birds swept the season series and forced a three-way tie for first place in the NFC South. Based on the tiebreaker, Carolina wins the division.

Rookie quarterback Tyler Shough threw for 259 yards and a touchdown, and he also ran for a score. But threw a critical interception in the fourth quarter when New Orleans had a chance to take the lead…

The Saints finish the season with a 6-11 record. New Orleans will have the eighth overall pick in the NFL draft.

Former Cincinnati Quarterback Brendan Sorsby has chosen Texas Tech over LSU after visiting both schools. But former Arizona State Q-B Sam Leavitt will reportedly be on LSU’s campus Monday morning.

Louisiana Tech men’s basketball rallied back from a 15-point second-half deficit to Sam Houston, only to lose to Western Kentucky 66 to 61 to fall to 1-and-2 in Conference USA play.

And former Louisiana Tech star football player, Jacob Fields, has committed to TCU. Fields was the Conference USA co-defensive player of the year.

With the transfer portal window open, finding a quarterback is a top priority for LSU. The number one player in the portal according to ESPN, former Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby reportedly visits with LSU today.  ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports the dual-threat Q-B is also considering Texas Tech. Sorsby, who has one year of eligibility left, has thrown for 7,208 yards and 60 touchdowns in his career. He also ran for 580 yards this season. On3.com reports LSU is among the finalists for Arizona State transfer Sam Leavitt.

Four Saints players have been ruled out for tomorrow’s regular-season finale at Atlanta. They are receiver Chris Olave, defensive tackle Nathan Shepherd, defensive tackle Bryan Bresee (bre-ZEE) and running back Alvin Kamara. Kamara has not played since November because of knee and ankle injuries. A-K played in a career-low 11 games this season and failed to surpass one-thousand yards from scrimmage for the first time in his career.

 

The Pelicans lost their sixth straight game last night, falling to Portland 122 to 109. Zion Williamson scored 35 points in a losing effort.

Rough game for Louisiana Tech men’s basketball last night as the Bulldogs lost to Middle Tennessee 88 to 51. The 37-point loss, is the largest for the Bulldogs in a Conference USA game. Tech is at Western Kentucky on Sunday.

McNeese improved to four and one in the Southland as the Cowboys defeated Lamar 82 to 70 las night. Today, Nicholls will try to go 5-0 in the Souhtland as the Colonels host East Texas A-and-M at 3 PM at Stopher Gymnasium.

LSU men’s basketball opens SEC play this afternoon against Texas A-and-M, but the Tigers could play this game without their star point guard, DJ Thomas. He’s listed as doubtful. Thomas is eighth in the country in assists and he averages 16 points per game. Tip off is at 3 PM in College Station.

LSU is scheduled to host Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby. Sorsby is ESPN’s top-ranked portal prospect and will head to Baton Rouge after visiting Texas Tech today. He was identified as a target for coach Lane Kiffin earlier this week.

Ole Miss is headed to the Fiesta Bowl to face Miami with a trip to the national championship on the line, but there’s been uncertainty about whether the six LSU assistant coaches on the Rebels’ staff will continue coaching. Tiger Rag Editor Glenn Guilbeau says any hesitation is on the Ole Miss side.

LSU will face Texas A&M tomorrow in their first SEC game of the season. The 12-and-1 Tigers are off to maybe their strongest start under head coach Matt McMahon, but he says conference play will be another level of competition.

The Lady Tigers lost their first game of the season after 11th-ranked Kentucky hit a last-second three pointer to win 80-78 in LSU’s SEC opener last night. Fifth-ranked LSU will have a quick turnaround as they visit No.12 Vanderbilt Sunday. Head coach Kim Mulkey says she needs to see more as her team prepares for a tough beginning to conference play.

The Saints’ final injury report ahead of the regular season finale against the Falcons Sunday was released today. Defensive tackles Bryan Bresee and Nathan Shepherd, running back Alvin Kamara and receiver Chris Olave were all ruled out while linebacker Demario Davis, guard Dillon Radunz and quarterback Spencer Rattler are questionable. Wideout Mason Tipton was also added to injured reserve along with tight end Jack Stoll.

The McNeese men’s basketball team will host Lamar at 6:00 tonight. The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will visit Middle Tennessee at 6:30 while the Lady Techsters tip-off against Sam Houston at the same time.

The college football transfer window opens today, and Yahoo Sports’ Nick Bromberg expects new LSU head coach Lane Kiffin to show his prowess navigating the portal. Kiffin has identified rebuilding the Tigers’ depleted offensive line as a top priority, and Bromberg says he’ll also hunt depth at quarterback, d-line and wide receiver.

LSU redshirt sophomore receivers Kyle Parker and Destyn Hill entered the transfer portal. Parker caught 31 passes for 330 yards and four touchdowns this season. Hill was a top 115 recruit out of Edna Karr and joined the Tigers after two seasons with Florida State. Both have two years of eligibility remaining.

The Lady Tigers’ undefeated start to the season came to an end last night as they fell 80-78 to 11thranked Kentucky in their SEC opener. The Wildcats hit a game-winning three to seal the game with half a second left to silence the P-MAC crowd and knock off fifth-ranked LSU. The Lady Tigers visit 12th-ranked Vanderbilt Sunday.

Ole Miss is in the CFP semifinals after upsetting Georgia 39-34 in the Sugar Bowl last night. The Rebels overcame a nine-point halftime deficit behind a lights out performance from quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. For Georgia, it’s their second straight Sugar Bowl loss, and head coach Kirby Smart says the back-and-forth game was one to remember.

McNeese will host Lamar in men’s basketball tonight on the nation’s fourth longest active home win streak. The Cowboys will look to make it 19 straight at home in a rematch of last year’s Southland Conference championship game at 6:00.

Louisiana Tech will visit Middle Tennessee in another postseason rematch from a season ago. The Bulldogs fell to the Blue Raiders in a heartbreaking overtime loss in the Conference USA quarterfinals last year. Both teams are coming off wins in their first conference matchup. Tip-off is at 6:30.

The lady Techsters will also be tipping off at 6:30 at home against Sam Houston.  Both teams are 7-and-4 heading into the C-USA opener.
