Andy Dalton will get the start at quarterback tonight and third-stringer Ian Book is also expected to see plenty of playing time. Book was sacked five times last week and turned it over twice. The Saints fumbled three times last Saturday against Houston and Coach Dennis Allen wants to see better ball security tonight. Kick-off from Lambeau Field is at 7 PM tonight.

One of the bigger position battles at LSU is for place kicker. LSU has been spoiled at this position with Cole Tracy and then All-American Cade York. Coach Brian Kelly says freshman Damian Ramos has been impressive, but there’s also sophomore Ezekeal Mata, Northwestern State grad transfer Trey Finison and freshman Nathan Dilbert….

Notre Dame transfer Jay Bramblett is expected to handle punting. He averaged 42 yards a punt in three seasons for the Fighting Irish.

The daughter of NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback Brett Favre has transferred LSU. Breleigh Favre is a beach volleyball player and competed for Southern Miss, where she won 36 matches, the fourth most in school history.

During Wednesday’s practice at LSU that was open to the media. Jayden Daniels took a majority of the first team snaps at quarterback during the scrimmage portion as he battles Garrett Nussmeier for the job. Coach Brian Kelly says both guys are competing well…

Kelly also says the starting offensive line is not set. During camp the tackles have been freshman Will Campbell and junior Anthony Bradford. At guard it’s been transfer portal signees Tre’Mond Shorts and Miles Frazier. Garrett Dellinger has been the starting center, but he had trouble on a few snaps yesterday. Cam Wire, Charles Turner, Marcus Dumerville, and Emery Jones are also battling for spots.

The Pelicans 2022-23 schedule is out as New Orleans will tip off the season at Brooklyn on October 19th and then host the Utah Jazz on the 23rd for the home opener. The Pels have 18 games on national television. If you do not have Bally Sports to watch Pelican games, you can stream the channel, but it will cost you 20-bucks a month or 190-dollars a year.

A break out star at LSU preseason camp is McNeese State transfer cornerback Colby Richardson, who added 25 pounds of weight during the offseason. Coach Brian Kelly expects Richardson to play a lot this fall and he likes the depth they’ve built at that position…

Quarterback Jameis Winston is not expected to play in tomorrow night’s game. He’s been recovering from a sprained foot sufffered during a practice on August eighth. Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas continues to look good in practices and he’s on track to play in the regular season opener. Thomas is trying to regain his All-Pro form after missing all of last season with an ankle injury.

There are reports the NFL and its players association have agreed to an eleven-game suspension for Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson will also be fined five million dollars. The Saints are set to play the Browns on Week 16 on Christmas eve. His first game back will be against his old team on Weeek 13.

LSU’s offense looked good in Wednesday’s practice that was completely open to the media. But snapping the football was an issue as first-team center Garrett Dellinger continues to get used to a position he’s never played. Coach Brian Kelly says Dellinger can snap the football well, but at center he has other responsibilities too

Snaps from center Garrett Dellinger were an issue during the practice. Dellinger has never played center before, but Kelly says he’s not concerned and they’ll clean that area up. On the defensive side of the football, Kelly is impressed with McNeese transfer Colby Richardson who has a chance to start at cornerback.

Saints Coach Dennis Allen said today it’s unlikely quarterback Jameis Winston will play in Friday’s preseason game against the Packers. Winston is with the team in Wisconsin as they practice against Green Bay. He participated in warm-up drills, but that was about it. Winston remains day-to-day.

LSU football picked up another commitment last night as they received a verbal pledge from Khai Prean, who is a four-star athlete and is expected to play wide receiver and defensive back for St. James High School.

LSU basketball picked up its first commitment for the 2023 class as six-foot-eight forward Corey Chest says he plans on playing for the Tigers and Matt McMahon. Chest attended McMain High School in New Orleans last season and he’s ranked as the 15th best power forward in the 2023 class.

The Pelicans regular season schedule came out today as they will open the season on October 19th in Brooklyn and host the Jazz for days later for the home opener.

LSU football holds a scrimmage today as the starting quarterback battle between Jayden Daniels and Garrett Nussmeier intensifies. Daniels calls it a friendly competition.

Now that Myles Brennan is out of the picture for the starting quarterback battle at LSU, who will be the starter when the Tigers kick off the season against Florida State on September 4th in the Superdome. Assistant Tiger Rag Editor William Weathers does not believe LSU has settled on a starter yet. Weathers says a scrimmage tomorrow will give Garrett Nussmeier and Jayden Daniels the opportunity to show what they got….

Brennan announced yesterday he’s leaving LSU and the game of football.

The Saints are in Green Bay participating in a joint practice with the Packers. Quarterback Jameis Winston was padded up, a good sign that he’s getting over a sprained foot that forced him to miss the preseason opener. New Orleans and Green Bay play preseason game number two on Friday night at Lambeau Field.

Scott McDonald is leaving his post as ULM athletic director on September 1st after leading the Warhawk athletic department since 2019. McDonald will return to the private sector and believes this is a good time with the university close to completing a comprehensive athletic strategic plan…

Currently, there are over six-million dollars in improvements to facilities that either have been completed or in the beginning stages of construction. It was also his decision to hire football coach Terry Bowden, who is set to begin his second season.

Southeastern Louisiana is ranked 16th in the F-C-S Coaches Preseason Top 25. And Northwestern State’s game against Grambling in Shreveport on September 10th will kick off at 6 PM.

The A-P preseason Top 25 poll is out and for the first time since 2000, LSU is not ranked. Alabama is ranked number one, followed by Ohio State, Georgia, Clemson and Notre Dame.

The Saints will hold a joint practice today and tomorrow in Wisconsin with the Green Bay Packers. The two teams will meet in Lambeau Field on Friday night.

ULM is in the search for a new athletics director as Scott McDonald is set to leave as A-D on September 1st to return to his work in the financial services industry. The former N-L-U baseball player believes the athletic department is in a better position now than when he took over…

LSU quarterback Myles Brennan has decided to end his college football career. Brennan was set to begin his sixth season at LSU and he was competing with Jayden Daniels and Garrett Nussmeier to be the starting quarterback. W-W-L sports director Kristian Garic says Brennan did not win the competition

Brennan appeared in 20 games during his career. Garic says he started the first three games of the 2020 season, but suffered an injury that sidelined him for the rest of the season and then got hurt again last season….

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported today that it’s becoming more unlikely that Alvin Kamara will face discipline from the league for his arrest on a felony battery charge as a result of a fight at a Las Vegas casino. Kamara’s court proceedings keep getting delayed and his next court hearing is not until September 29th. The NFL is expected to wait after the case prosecuted before deciding on a suspension.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting it seems unlikely that running Alvin Kamara will be disciplined this season because of a felony battery charge he faces in Las Vegas for a fight that occurred a casino. The legal case is still months away from coming to a conclusion. Meanwhile in the NFL Network’s list of Top 100 players, Kamara comes in at number 51.

The Saints will head to Green Bay this week for a couple of joint practices before playing the Packers in a preseason game on Friday night. Rookie left tackle Trevor Penning played in his first NFL game on Saturday. He played well in the first half, but struggled more in the second half, allowing a sack. Penning knows he has to get better…

LSU received another major commitment over the weekend as Zachary’s Kylin Jackson announced his verbal pledge. The four-star safety chose LSU over Texas A-and-M. He’s six-foot-two, 195 pounds and is considered one of the ten best safeties in the nation.

There are reports out of Monroe that ULM will announce the resignation of athletics director Scott McDonald. He’s led the Warhawk athletics program for the last three seasons. ULM president Doctor Ron Berry reportedly received McDonald’s resignation letter on Friday.
