LSU men’s basketball battled Kentucky in Lexington last night but came up three points short as the Wildcats held off the Tigers 74-71. LSU couldn’t contain the reigning SEC and national player of the year Oscar Tshiewbwe, who had 19 points and 16 rebounds. Kentucky’s Jacob Toppin also had 21 points. LSU was led by K-J Williams, who had 23 points. The Tigers are now 1-and-1 in SEC play and will visit Texas A-and-M on Saturday.

The Pelicans host the Houston Rockets tonight, but Zion Williamson will not play and he will miss some time. The team expects he’ll miss the next three weeks at least because of a hamstring strain. Williamson got hurt in the third quarter in Monday’s loss at Philadelphia. Zion is averaging 26 points, seven rebounds and nearly five assists a game. The Pels are six and two without Williamson this season. Tonight’s game against Houston tips at 7.

The Saints are on a three-game winning streak, but eliminated from playoff contention with a seven and nine record. Head Coach Dennis Allen says it’s easy to look back at moments that could have gone differently this season…

The Tigers Citrus Bowl matchup against Purdue wasn’t much of a contest as LSU trounced the short-handed Purdue team without their head coach and starting Quarterback. The Tigers’ offense had nearly 600 yards en route to a 63-7 victory. The LSU Men’s Basketball team will return to action tonight at Kentucky in their second SEC contest of the season. Many didn’t know what to think of new Head Coach Matt McMahon’s rebuilt squad, but the Tigers have started the season 12-1 and opened SEC play last week with a home win over ninth-ranked Arkansas. Tip-off in Lexington is tonight at 7:00.

Tulane pulled off a shocking 46-45 Cotton Bowl upset over USC. The Green Wave finishes the season with a 12-2 record giving the program the best single-season turnaround in FBS history after a two-win season last year. Down 15 with 4 and a half minutes left, Tulane put together a two-play touchdown drive, caused a safety after a muffed kickoff, and led a three-minute game-winning touchdown drive capped off with a  touchdown reception by Alex Bauman. The pass was originally ruled an incompletion before the call was reversed. Bauman said he knew it was a catch all-along…

The Buffalo Bills released a statement earlier today saying safety Demar Hamlin is in critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest during last night’s Monday Night Football game. Hamlin received CPR on the field before being rushed to UC Medical Center for further treatment. The NFL suspended the game indefinitely and has announced there are no plans to play the game this week.

The 17th ranked LSU Tigers finished off the 2022 season with a resounding 63-7 blowout win over Purdue in the Citrus Bowl yesterday. The win gives the Tigers ten wins on the season. Sophomore receiver Malik Nabers had a career high 163 receiving yards and a TD. He also he threw two touchdown passes, one of them went for a touchdown. The defense was on point too. Three interceptions and four sacks. Coach Brian Kelly was impressed…

There’s a good chance LSU will enter next season ranked in the Top 10 and the same goes for Florida State. The two storied programs will kick off the 2023 season in Orlando in September.

What a victory for Tulane yesterday in the Cotton Bowl as the Green Wave rallied back from a 15-point deficit to beat U-S-C 46-45 to finish a magical season with a 12-2 record. Coach Willie Fritz led the turnaround of a program that won just two games last season…

Tulane found themselves down 45-30 with 4 minutes and 30 seconds left. A fourth touchdown run by Tyjae Spears, a safety and then a touchdown pass with nine seconds left produced the comeback.

Zion Williamson left last night’s game with the 76ers with a hamstring strain and the Pelicans lost to Philadelphia 120 to 111.

LSU and Tulane both won their bowl games, the Tigers game was over before it started, while the Green Wave went down the wire with Tulane beating USC in the Cotton Bowl 46-45. The Greenies rallied back from a 15-point deficit with 4:34 left to pull off the one-point win. Michael Pratt’s six-yard touchdown pass to Alex Bauman with nine seconds left was the winning score. Tulane running back Tyjae Spears rushed for 205 yards and four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, in the Citrus Bowl, LSU steamrolled Purdue 63-7. Quarterback Jayden Daniels and Garret Nussmeier both played. Daniels threw for 139 yards and a touchdown, while Nussmeier had 98 yards and a touchdown. Malik Nabers had a big game with nine catches for 163 yards and a TD.

Defensively, LSU had four sacks and gave up 263 total yards. Safety Greg Brooks had five tackles, one for loss and an interception.

In the Saints 20-10 victory over the Eagles in Philadelphia on Sunday, Cam Jordan became the team’s all-time sacks leader as he had three in the game to give him 115.5, surpassing the great Rickey Jackson. Jordan only had one sack his rookie season and was determined he could be a great defensive player if ever given a chance to play every play…

The LSU football team will put a wrap on the 2022 season by playing Purdue today in the Citrus Bowl. The Sugar Bowl kicks off at 11 AM today in New Orleans as fifth ranked Alabama takes on ninth ranked Kansas State. Both teams have ten wins on the season.

Sportsbooks in New Jersey are no longer taking bets on the Citrus Bowl, because Drew Brees is serving as an interim coach for the Purdue Boilermakers. Brees also has a business relationship with sportsbook Pointsbet. LSU is 14.5 point favorite to win on Monday in Orlando.

Saints running back Alvin Kamara returned to practice yesterday after missing practice on Wednesday and Thursday and will play tomorrow against the Eagles.

Today is a big of college basketball. LSU is off. But Louisiana Tech is at 10 and 3 Charlotte. The Ragin Cajuns look for their first Sun Belt win at Old Dominion. U-L-M tries to go 2 and 0 in the Sun Belt as they visit Arkansas State.

The Southland begins conference play today. Northwestern State has been the most impressive team through the non-conference and the Demons host Texas A-and-M Corpus Christi at 2:30 today. McNeese is at Lamar.

ULM opened Sun Belt play with a 57-53 win at Texas State. Tyreke Lacure had 12 points, eight rebounds and four assists. The Warhawks are at Arkansas State tomorrow.

Guard Trae Hannibal led the Tigers provided a spark with 19 points off the bench and forward Derek Fountain had a 14-point double-double. LSU Wide Receiver Kayshon Boutte announced yesterday he will enter the 2023 NFL Draft. The Preseason All-American and first round prospect earlier said he’d return to the team in 2023, but plans unexpectedly changed less than a week before the Citrus Bowl. The Tigers will now look to sophomore Malik Nabers to step into the leading role in the Tigers offense. Nabers led the team in receptions and yards this year and will look to continue his success with quarterback Jayden Daniels next season.

The Saints will fight to keep their slim playoff chances alive this weekend as they travel to Philadelphia to face the NFL-leading Eagles. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts missed last week with a shoulder injury but is questionable to return this week as they look to clinch the number-one seed in the NFC. One player the Eagles will for sure be without is safety CJ Gardner-Johnson who the Saints traded to Philly earlier this year. Gardner-Johnson has been on IR since week 12 but still leads the league in interceptions. Saints Head Coach Dennis Allen says he doesn’t regret the decision…
