Governor Edwards is making his second overseas trip in less than two months as his office says he’s on economic development trip in London. New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell went to Switzerland and France this summer to sign sister city agreements. Political analyst Clancy Dubos says Edwards’ trip has more substance…:

A Shreveport man with a history of sex crimes was found guilty today of having a sexual relationship with an underage girl. 41-year-old Brandon Davenport’s two-year-long affair with the teen came to light when the girl became pregnant. He was convicted of the same type crime in 2004 and is a registered sex offender already. His sentencing is next month.

Ochsner Health is building a new, state-of-the-art neuroscience center in New Orleans. Dr. C.J. Bui says the center will treat diseases of the spine, nerves, and brain–diseases such as epilepsy, movement disorders, and cognitive impairment; things that affect most of us as we age…:

After multiple escapes, the decision was made to transfer the more violent offender to the state penitentiary. That move was halted briefly after a lawsuit, but Marrero state Senator Patrick Connick says that legal hurdle has been cleared.

Monroe Police say they are searching for a juvenile who fired several shots inside Pecanland Mall on Saturday night. Authorities say an argument between two juveniles escalated into a physical fight and as officers intervened, a person fired a weapon. Two people have been arrested for their role in the fight.

Marrero state Senator Patrick Connick has remained invested in the project, after a rash of breakouts and violent incidents at Bridge City over the past year. Connick says he’s heard there was a staffing shortage for the facility, but he says that’s not accurate…:

Connick says a New Orleans news outlet reported of a “staff shortage”, but says there are plenty of available staff to mind the juveniles; they just need to be re-assigned to the temporary Angola facility. Connick says it will take a bit of time to make preparations to move the Bridge City Center juvenile offenders to Angola, but the biggest hurdles – the legal ones – are cleared…:
