LSU shortstop Steven Milam has removed his name from the MLB draft and will return to LSU for his senior season. Milam has been an elite defensive starter all three years in Baton Rouge and was a key piece of the Tigers’ 2025 national championship. Glen West of On3.com says it’s a massive win for the Tigers.
“Monster” Milam hit .296 with 11 home runs and 49 RBI this season.
Florida transfer Cade Curland will also reportedly be pulling his name from the draft, meaning the Tigers will likely have an infield featuring Milam, Curland, Texas State transfer Dawson Park and first basemen Mason Braun
UL-Lafayette continues to build in the transfer portal. The Cajuns landed Texas State DH and first baseman Manny Salas. Salas hit .309 with 16 home runs, 14 doubles and 42 RBIS this year. UL also added Marshall right-hander Griffin Miller, Kansas State infielder Micah Kendrick, and UTSA pitcher Kendall Dove.
ULM softball coach Molly Fichtner signed a contract extension to stay with the Warhawks through 2029. She has led the Warhawks to three straight winning seasons and won back-to-back Sun Belt Coach of the Year honors.
West Virginia took the first game of the Men’s College World Series in a 7-5 win over Troy. First pitch in game two between Ole Miss and UNC is set for 6 p.m. Former LSU star and ESPN analyst Todd Walker says the Rebels were lucky to dodge the side of the bracket with four SEC teams.
Alabama will play Oklahoma, and Georgia takes on Texas tomorrow.
