The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office has charged a Leesville man with attempted second degree murder following a domestic dispute. The victim says her husband, 37-year-old Robert Drummond, beat her with a firearm and threatened to kill her while he held her down. She says Drummond also fired shots at her as she fled the residence. Drummond also faces several other charges, including aggravated assault with a firearm.

Baton Rouge Congressman Garret Graves is backing legislation to improve Red Snapper access in the Gulf of Mexico for recreational, commercial, and charter industries. The city of Lafayette has been tapped as one the top All American vacation spots for 2015 by the Travel Channel. Baton Rouge Congressman Garret Graves is pushing two different bills through Congress that would improve Red Snapper access in the Gulf of Mexico. Graves says one bill improves the science used to manage Red Snapper resources and the second bill deals with making sure commercial and recreational fisherman have greater access to Red Snapper.
