A three judge panel called the move by Jindal “unconstitutional interference.” Parents and educators sued, and the testing still took place this past spring. Jindal says he will appeal.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office says a man is dead after falling off of a barge at a recycling center in Gibson. They say 44-year-old James Patrick Lafleur of Morgan City was a welder on the platform barge when he fell nearly 60 feet to the barge’s base. Lafleur was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
