Woodfox, who has been twice convicted for killing a prison guard, was hoping to get out of prison this week, after a federal judge ordered that he should be released and barred the state from tyring him for a third time. But the Louisiana Attorney General’s office has been successful to this point in keeping Woodfox behind bars as the A-G’s office still believes he’s guily in the 1972 death.

The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals continued the blockage of the release of Albert Woodfox, until the appeal from Attorney General Buddy Caldwell is considered further. The case has an “expedited” status, which means his release could happen in a few weeks.

It now appears that one of the Louisiana Guardsmen killed in a training mission helicopter crash off the coast of Florida, will be allowed to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Secretary of the Army John McHugh says he approved the exception to the burial of 26 year-old Thomas Florich, who was originally denied because he was officially listed as inactive.

The business community and the film industry are hot happy with what came out of the legislative session…

The Army has granted an exception that will allow Louisiana National Guard Staff Sgt. Thomas Florich to be buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Florich was killed in a helicopter crash off the coast of Florida in March, along with ten other servicemen. The Army originally denied the family’s request for burial at Arlington because Florich was not listed as “active duty” at the time of the crash. Secretary of the Army John McHugh says there was compelling justification to grant the exception.
