Parishes in southeast Louisiana are under a tornado watch this morning as a strong band of storms move through the area. The greatest threats with this system, according to forecasters, include damaging winds and isolated twisters. Following the band, a cold front will bring cooler and drier weather today through Friday.

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Spokesperson Adam Einck says the mud boat driver has been identified as 35-year old Bart Dufrene, Jr from Des Allemends. Einck says the two boats were going around a bend when they crashed but it’s still unknown exactly what happened.

At around two o’ clock this afternoon, the National Weather Service says a thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located in LaSalle Parish and moving northeast at 40 miles per hour. It looks like former Governor Bobby Jindal will not head the Department of Health and Human Services as sources say President-elect Trump has selected Georgia US Representative Tom Price. Jindal was rumored to be on a list of those under consideration for the cabinet position. During his own failed presidential campaign, the former governor made several critical statements of Mr. Trump including calling him a narcissist egomaniac.

A 91-year-old man in Baton Rouge lost his life when high winds knocked a tree on top of him while he was raking leaves. State Climatologist Barry Keim says tonight the state is looking at the potential for more severe weather. He expects high winds, hail and a lot of rain:
