You can early vote for the December 10th runoff election now through Saturday. It looks like the US Senate candidates, Republican John Kennedy and Democrat Foster Campbell, will not debate. UL-Lafayette Political Science Professor Pearson Cross says this is likely because Kennedy has a comfortable lead in the polls:

State Police is now investigating the case of a man who was killed in a shootout with East Baton Rouge deputies after he allegedly murdered a woman in a car before pushing her into a street and ramming bystanders and paramedics with his vehicle. Authorities say when deputies demanded the man show his hands, he fired several rounds at them. What started this incident remains unknown at this time. We’ll have more on this as it develops.

The state Department of Children and Family Services says more than 1500 babies were born exposed to drugs or alcohol last year, a number that’s tripled over the last 8 years. DCFS spokeswoman Denise Evans says this is a big problem for their department…:

Police in New Orleans are looking for 2 suspects wanted in connection with a terrifying Bourbon Street shooting that claimed the life of a Baton Rouge man and left 9 others injured. Cops say, following the Bayou Classic early Sunday, the suspected shooters, who are not from the area, are believed to have gotten into an argument which escalated and lead to the shooting. The search is underway for the shooters and NOPD is asking for help from the public.

Police in New Orleans say the shooting on Bourbon Street that left one man dead and nine others injured started as an argument that escalated into gunfire early Sunday morning following the Bayou Classic. They say the two men involved in the fight were not from the area and are still at large. Officials said it is believed the suspects ran into each other on the street when the shooting took place. The victims range in age from 20-37 years old – five have been released from the hospital and four others are still being treated. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects are urged to contact authorities.

The Louisiana Department of Insurance is urging families to compare rates for auto and homeowners insurance to get the best protection. Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon says a home and car are the biggest investments people make. State Police say a man wanted in connection with the shooting death of woman in Baton Rouge was shot and killed in a shootout with with deputies last night. They say this all stemmed from an earlier incident in which two people were shot leaving a woman dead after she was found in the middle of Essen Lane. The other shooting victim was an EMS worker with injuries not considered life-threatening. The investigation is ongoing.

LSU will introduce Ed Orgeron as the Tigers’ new head coach during a press conference in this hour. Tiger Rag Associate Editor James Moran says this could be good news for LSU’s offense.

Spokesperson for the National Federation of Independent Businesses in Louisiana, Todd Pack, says a recent survey shows more people than ever are aware of Small Business Saturday, and 62-percent of those plan to shop at small retailers.

She says this year’s winner will be able to buy a lot of Christmas gifts.
