A Baton Rouge college student is under arrest for murdering and dismembering his parents in Tennessee. Knox County Sheriff Major Michael MaClean says 29-year-old Joel Michael Guy Junior went home for the Thanksgiving weekend and viciously stabbed his parents and tried to cover the crime up.

Controlling the state’s wild hog population is the topic of today’s meeting of the Feral Hog Management Task Force. Louisiana Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries vet Dr. Jim LaCour says the legislature has dedicated 360-thousand dollars towards the problem.

The first above average Atlantic Hurricane Season since 2012 comes to an end today. NOAA’s lead hurricane forecaster, Gerry Bell, says he can’t stress enough to coastal residents the importance of being prepared every year for hurricane season.

The Feral Hog Management Task Force meets today to discuss ways to control the wild hog population in Louisiana. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Veterinarian Dr. Jim LaCour says it’s a big problem in the state.

The taskforce was created during the 2016 regular legislative session and is comprised of 11 members from different departments.  LaCour says current methods to control feral hogs are just not working. He says the goal of the taskforce is to discuss best methods of control.

The LSU Ag Center estimates there are over half a million, or as many as 700-thousand feral hogs in the state. LaCour says the legislature has dedicated 360-thousand dollars towards the problem…

This year, there were 15 named storms, including 7 hurricanes – 3 of which were major. NOAA’s lead hurricane forecaster, Gerry Bell, says there were several factors which lead to the active season…:

Campbell has made it clear that a majority of his campaign donations have come from individuals, not political action committees. But Pinsonat says voters don’t care about the money, they vote based on candidate’s platforms.

A Bossier Parish Air Force veteran is behind bars, accused of raping and sexually exploiting young boys in his foster care. Lt. Bill Davis with Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office says 51-year-old Terral Parfait was arrested after one of his victims came forward.

Davis says Parfait lives alone and has been a foster parent for quite some time. He says so far, Parfait has been charged with three counts of 1st degree rape.

Davis says hundreds of floppy disks, flash drives, VHS, and DVDs were also seized from the suspect’s home where they found images of known child pornography produced of the boys that were in his care. He encourages parents to come forward who know their children have been in foster care with Parfait or have had any interaction with him at all…:

Authorities say a man from Baton Rouge has been charged with two counts of first degree murder for allegedly killing and dismembering his parents over Thanksgiving at their home in Tennessee. Officials with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office say the victims are Lisa and Joel Guy and their son, 29-year-old Michael Guy, is accused in the deaths, cutting up and dissolving the bodies in an acidic chemical.

They say the investigation began after one of the victims came forward, and during questioning of 51-year-old Terral Parfait, he admitted to everything. Parfait faces many charges including three counts of 1st degree rape of three boys under the age of 12 — and cops fear there are more victims out there.

It’s been reported Saints receiver Brandin Cooks is frustrated with his role in the offense. Cooks didn’t catch a pass last week in the win over the Los Angeles Rams. Coach Sean Payton was asked about it today and says he’s not concerned. Payton says they’ll keep working and finding opportunities for Cooks to catch passes.

During the Saints 49-21 win over the Rams the theme song from the “Lion King” was played after New Orleans successful trick play that saw Willie Snead throw a touchdown pass to Tim Hightower. Payton also referenced the “Circle of Life” song in a postgame tweet. Offensive Tackle Zach Strief is not saying why this song is so important to the team…

LSU has reportedly offered a scholarship to Alabama commitment Tua Tagovailoa, who is a five-star quarterback from Alabama. LSU has two committed quarterbacks in their 2016 recruiting class. Lowell Narcisse from St. James, who was visited by Head Coach Ed Orgeron and running backs coach Jabbar Juluke. And there’s also Miles Brennan from Mississippi, who recently picked up an offer from Oklahoma State.

The LSU men’s basketball team won easily 84-65 over the Houston Cougars last night. It was Houston’s first loss of the season. Antonio Blakeney had a game high 23 points and the Tigers shot 44-percent from three-point range. Also last night, UNO beat Tulane 74-59 and Texas State topped McNeese State 80-68. Tonight, Louisiana Tech is at California.

Anthony Davis had 41 points and 16 rebounds as the Pelicans drained the Lakers 105-88. New Orleans is now 5-2 since Jrue Holiday returned.

A man who was caught on video looting a flooded Baton Rouge Hi-Neighbor grocery story in August, robbing it of beer and cigarettes, has been arrested. Police say 20-year-old Clarence Duncan was recognized from the surveillance and, when questioned, admitted to the crime stating he needed food. He was booked on charges of looting into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Using metal detectors to keep Bourbon Street safer is not a practical solution. That’s according to Edward Robinson of L and R security services. He says aside from difficult logistics, it would be a costly venture when you look at how much manpower would be needed…:

The man accused of killing a Shreveport Police Officer last year was ruled competent to stand trial during a Tuesday sanity hearing. A doctor told the court that Grover Cannon was even upset the defense suggested he had a mental issue. Officer Thomas LaValley was killed in August 2015 when responding to a suspicious person call. Cannon faces four charges including, 1st Degree Murder.

The Baton Rouge Police Police Union is livid over the Metro Council’s decision to settle with Alton Sterling protesters who sued over the treatment they received from cops. The city leaders agreed to pay $100,000 to the demonstrators instead of going to trial. The Police Union says this payout is a slap in the face to all officers involved.

There is an opioid overdose every 18 hours in Louisiana, and now Walgreens is selling an over the counter antidote that would stop the effects of an OD. That’s according to LSU Health New Orleans Professor of Psychiatry James Becnel. He says he hopes more pharmacies will make Naloxone available…:

State Police say a 17-year-old is dead after failing to yield for a train in Sabine Parish and colliding with it. They say Kevin Brown’s vehicle exited the left side of the road after impact and overturned.

Gonzales Police are looking for a man they say allegedly walked into a gas station, exposed himself and began performing a sex act in front of customers. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact authorities.

Police say a man in St. Tammany Parish who allegedly went on a date with a woman he met online before tying her up and trying to kidnap her is reportedly in custody. They indicate after the victim called for help, authorities began a pursuit that went across the Causeway and ended with 41-year-old Christopher Garcy crashing in Avondale and getting into a standoff with cops before he was apprehended.
