Robert Mann, the Chair of LSU Manship School of Mass Communication, says he’s made the decision to leave the university after an 18-year career following Governor-Elect Jeff Landry’s victory. A war of words between Mann and Jeff Landry, who was Attorney General, resulted in Landry requesting President Tate to fire him. Mann says he’s concerned about the future of higher education in the Bayou State under Landry’s leadership.

Orleans Parish D-A Jason Williams and his 76-year-old mother were carjacked last night in the Lower Garden District. Two armed people approached Williams as he was helping his mother out of his black Lincoln Navigator in the 1000 block of Race Street. Williams told WWL-TV he’s glad to be alive and nobody pulled a trigger. Williams and his mother were not injured. No arrests have been made.

Juveniles toilet papering a home in Welch has led to the arrest of the homeowner. Deputies arrested 71 year old Roger Dale Broderick after responding to a report of shots fired. Around midnight, Broderick caught juveniles in the act of toilet papering his home and fired a handgun. He has been charged with Aggravated assault with a firearm.

Georgetown Police Chief, George Hinds has been arrested, accused of accepted cash during a traffic stop.  After receiving a complaint of malfeasance, 51 year old Hinds was booked into the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Jail. Louisiana State Police who are leading an ongoing investigation provided no further details.

Three statewide races are also in a runoff, attorney general, secretary of state and state treasurer. The governor’s race has been decided. La Politics Dot Com Publisher, Jeremy Alford says interest will be low for the November 18th general election and he doesn’t see it approaching the 36-percent we had for the primary…

For the first time in program history, LSU Women’s Basketball will enter the season as the nation’s top-ranked team! The Lady Tigers were nearly a unanimous choice in the Preseason AP poll that came out Tuesday. Many players from Last year’s national championship team are returning and they added the top two players out of the transfer portal and have the nation’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class.

The Tigers will host their first of two exhibition games Next Thursday, October 26 against East Texas Baptist. The other exhibition in the PMAC will be on November 1 against Loyola (New Orleans). The Tigers will begin their season on November 6 in Las Vegas against No. 20 Colorado
