Nussmeier was having a good season, until throwing three interceptions in the second half against Texas A-and-M on October 26th. Nuss threw two more interceptions and lost a fumble against Alabama.

Heading into the season, Saints right tackle Trevor Penning was a big question mark, but he’s played well and interim Saints Coach Darren Rizzi says the former first round pick might have had his best game last week…

Louisiana Tech has a tough test this Saturday as the Bulldogs travel to Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers are 5-and-0 in Conference USA and they have one of the top quarterbacks in the league in six-foot-six Cade Veltkamp who has thrown for nearly two-thousand yards and 19 touchdowns. Nice win for Louisiana Tech men’s basketball last night as the Bulldogs defeated UMass 76 to 66 in Long Island, New York. Point guard Sean Newman junior led the way with a season high 14 points and a career-high 12 assists.

Rough game for the Ragin Cajuns last night as U-L Lafayette lost to eighth ranked Houston 91 to 45. U-L Lafayette turned it over 23 times.

Saints linebacker Pete Werner did not practice yesterday because of a hand injury. Coach Darren Rizzi is hopeful Werner can play this Sunday against the Browns. Werner missed three games earlier this season because of a hamstring injury. In the seven games he’s appeared in, Werner has 43 tackles.

LSU women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey has signed the number one recruiting class in the nation as four five-star prospects signed with the Lady Tigers on National Signing Day. Knox averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds a game last year.

The Pelicans lost their sixth straight last night as they fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder 106 to 88.

Eighth ranked Houston ran the Ragin Cajuns out of the gym beating U-L Lafayette 91 to 45.

Louisiana Tech improved to 3-and-0 with a 76 to 66 win over U-Mass. The Bulldogs had five players in double figures led by Amaree Abram had 19 points.

LSU is at Florida on Saturday. Gators Coach Billy Napier says quarterback DJ Lagway is trending in the right direction play against the Tigers. Lagway injured his hamstring a couple of weeks ago and didn’t play last week against Texas.

Nine players were listed on the Saints injury report today ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns. Lucas Patrick, Pete Werner, and Jamaal Williams did not practice. Cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry and center Erik McCoy were limited, but there’s optimism they will play on Sunday.

Even though LSU has two SEC losses, the Tigers still have a 16-percent of chance getting to the SEC Championship game according to ESPN. But a more realistic goal is to finish with another ten win seasons. Kelly says there’s also still plenty of time for development…

Airline High receiver Kenny Darby has committed to LSU. He’s a three-star recruit in the Class of 2026. Darby also has offers from Ole Miss, Missouri, Texas A-and-M and Florida State.

The ULM Warhawks enter this Saturday’s football game against Auburn on a three-game losing streak. Coach Bryant Vincent says his team is going through a tough time, but they still have the potential to finish with a winning record

ULM basketball concluded a three-game road trip by losing to Rice 66 to 50.

Tonight the Ragin Cajuns are in Houston to face the eighth ranked Houston Cougars. U-L Lafayette is looking for its first win against a ranked team since 2002.

The Pelicans are at Oklahoma City. Add key reserve Jose Alvardo to the injury list. He’ll miss six weeks with a hamstring injury.

The 7th ranked LSU Lady Tigers won easily over Charleston Southern, 117 to 44 yesterday . Aneesha Morrow had 21 points and 20 boards. LSU is 3-and-0.

Saturday night’s loss to Alabama was the worst loss the Tigers have suffered since Brian Kelly took over as head coach of LSU. There are concerns among the fan base on whether Kelly can make the Tigers a championship contender. Kelly tried to reassure fans on Monday that the program is headed in the right direction…

The seventh ranked LSU women’s basketball team had an easy time beating Charleston Southern today as the final score was 117 to 44 in the annual field trip game. Aneesah Morrow had 21 points and 20 rebounds and Flaue’Jae Johnson surpassed one-thousand points in her career by scoring 18 points.

The Southeastern Conference has fined LSU 250-thousand because its fans threw bottles and other trash on the field after a face mask penalty was called against LSU in the third quarter of Saturday night’s loss to Alabama. If LSU can identify those who threw thrash on the field, they will be barred from attending another LSU athletic even this year.

The high school football playoff brackets are out and there are 208 schools who have visions of making it to the state championship game. In Division One select, Edna Karr and Alexandria Senior High are the top two seeds, but LHSAA Network reporter Spencer Verrett (veh-RET) says there are three schools from the Lafayette area that could play in the prep Classic…

The loss to the Crimson Tide likely knocked the Tigers out of playoff contention, but Kelly says the focus for his team the rest of the way is to be more consistent

The SEC has fined LSU 250-thousand because dozens of fans threw water bottles and other trash on the field after a facemask penalty was called against the Tigers in the third quarter of Saturday night’s game. The league has also ordered the school to use security video to identify fans who threw something on the field and ban them from any other LSU athletic event for the remainder of the season.

In college hoops last night….Alabama defeated McNeese 72 to 64, Oklahoma knocked off Northwestern State 73 to 57 despite 20 points from Micah Thomas and Florida defeated Grambling 86 to 62.

Darren Rizzi was a winner in his first game as a head coach in the NFL. Rizzi helped lead New Orleans to a 20-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons to end a seven-game losing streak. Rizzi received a game ball during the postgame locker room celebration, but he says everyone in the organization deserves a game ball…

The Saints will try to make it two wins in a row this Sunday when they host Cleveland. The Browns are expected to start former Saint Jameis Winston at quarterback.

 

The Pelicans host the Brooklyn Nets tonight and Trey Murphy will make his season debut for New Orleans. Murphy has been out with a right hamstring injury. But Zion Williamson is expected to miss the next several weeks with a hamstring strain.

The Saints ended their seven-game losing streak by beating their biggest rival yesterday, the Atlanta Falcons 20 to 17. Recently signed receiver Marquez Valdes Scantling had two touchdown catches. Tyrann Mathieu had a key interception late in the game; Cam Jordan had his first sack of the season and Alvin Kamara became the franchise’s all-time leading rusher. Kamara says he liked the attitude his teammates displayed…
