Western Kentucky is 5-and-2 on the season, but did not play well last Tuesday in a 25-6 loss to F-I-U.

The Toronto Blue Jays are heading to the World Series for the first time since 1993 they rallied to beat Seattle four to three in Game seven of the American League Championship Series. Former LSU star Kevin Gausman was credited with the win as he pitched one inning of relief before George Springer hit a three-run homer that set the entire country of Canada in a frenzy. Game one of the World Series between the Blue Jays and Dodgers is Friday night in Toronto.

20^th ranked LSU will not have its starting left tackle for its matchup against third ranked Texas A&M. Tyree Adams injured his ankle in the Vanderbilt loss and Coach Brian Kelly has already ruled him out for Saturday.

DJ Chester replaced Adams when he went down against the Commodores and did not perform well according to Pro Football Focus. His grade was 49.9, the lowest among LSU’s offensive linemen.

Former Saints head coach Dennis Allen, who is the defensive coordinator for the Bears, received a game ball from Chicago coach Ben Johnson during their postgame victory celebration. The Saints will host the Buccaneers Sunday.

Former LSU star Jayden Daniels went down with a hamstring injury in the Commanders 44-22 loss to Dallas. Daniels will undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the injury. Washington is now 3-and-4 on the season.

The LSU Tigers fell ten spots in the latest AP Top 25 poll as a result of their disappointing 31-24 loss to Vanderbilt. Vandy had nearly 400 yards of total offense against an LSU defense that was thought to be good. The Commodores were six for 13 on third down as the Tigers could not get off the field. The Tigers could be without two starters on defense as defensive tackle Bernard Gooden is doubtful with a collarbone injury and linebacker Whit Weeks is questionable with an ankle injury.

The Saints will face their old coach on Sunday. Dennis Allen is the defensive coordinator for the three and two Chicago Bears. Allen has spent most of his coaching career in New Orleans. Saints defensive end Cam Jordan says he appreciated his many years with Allen and says no love has been lost.

ULM is coming off a messy 23-8 loss to Coastal Carolina last week after the Warhawks turned the ball over three times. As ULM prepares to face a red-hot Troy team, head coach Bryant Vincent says his team is focused on winning each week and learning from their prior mistakes.

The LSU women’s basketball team is ranked fifth in the AP Top 25 preseason poll. Junior guard Milaysia Fulwiley is one of the big new additions to LSU. She transferred in from South Carolina. She averaged nearly 12 points a game for the Gamecocks last season as she was a wing player. Coach Kim Mulkey says they also plan to use Fulwiley at point guard…

Pelicans starting center Kevon Looney will miss the start of the season with a knee injury.  Looney signed with New Orleans in the offseason for two years 16 million dollars after winning three NBA titles with the Warriors. He was  a durable player at Golden State. The Pels tip off the regular season next Wednesday.

LSU junior linebacker Whit Weeks is listed as questionable for Saturday’s game at Vanderbilt. Coach Brian Kelly said earlier this week that Weeks was dealing with soreness from the ankle injury he suffered in the bowl game against Baylor. Edge rusher Jimiari Butler is also questionable and senior defensive tackle Bernard Gooden is doubtful with a collarbone injury.

LSU’s offensive line did a better job of opening up holes for the running backs against South Carolina as the Tigers rushed for a season-high 166 yards. Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier says the offensive line is doing a good job of improving its play each week.

It’s homecoming in Hammond, as Southeastern Louisiana hosts Northwestern State. The Demons have lost five in a row, while the Lions are 2-0 and tied for first place in the league with Lamar and Stephen F Austin.

The Saints are back at practice today getting, ready for Sunday’s game in Chicago against the Bears. New Orleans would like to start faster, especially on defense, where they have not looked good in the first quarter in the  four previous games. Chicago has won three in a row and in those three victories, the Bears have a total of 11 takeaways. Kick-off in the Windy city is at noon.

It’s the first time since 1947 that these two teams are playing each other as ranked teams.

McNeese State football is off to a 1-and-5 start after being blown out by Southeastern. Sophomore quarterback Jake Strong struggled against the Lions, completing only 5-of-14 passes for 37 yards and two interceptions. Head coach Matt Viator says the Cowboys’ offense has to do a much better job against Houston Christian on Saturday.

The Southern Jaguars are off to their worst start to a season since 1971 after the 45-14 loss to Bethune-Cookman. Head coach Terrance Graves says it’s important to instill belief in his players and encourages the fan base to stick with the Jaguars through a tough start.

Vanderbilt ranks seventh in scoring offense in the country and LSU ranks fifth in scoring defense, allowing less than 12 points per game. The two teams will meet Saturday at 11 AM in Nasvhille. Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea says the Commodores’ offensive success will come down to execution and patience.

The LSU women’s basketball team is ranked fifth in the AP preseason poll. UCONN is ranked number one in the preseason, followed by South Carolina, UCLA and Texas. The preseason ranking is the second-highest of the Mulkey era. The season begins November 4^th against Houston Christian.

Grambling is now 3-and-3 after a heartbreaking 21-20 loss to Texas Southern. The Tigers had multiple crucial turnovers, including a fumble in the fourth quarter that allowed Texas Southern to run the clock out. Head coach Mickey Joseph says his young team has to clean up their play.
