A critical fumble by Taysom Hill in the fourth quarter and eight penalties on the Black and Gold led to a second straight loss for New Orleans as Aaron Rodgers and the Packers defeated the Saints 37-30. Rodgers threw for 283 yards and three touchdowns and the Saints secondary couldn’t cover Allen Lazard who had six catches for 146 yards and three touchdowns. Tampa Bay won yesterday so they are first in the NFC South with a 2-1 record.

The Saints say this will be a strict test of their health and safety protocols. Wearing number 18 is a big honor at LSU as that jersey number is given to the player who is synonymous with success on and off the field and has a selfless attitude. With the college football season set to start for SEC schools on Saturday, the league released its preseason media poll today. Media members picked LSU to finish in second place in the SEC West behind Alabama. Auburn is picked to finish in third, followed by Texas A-and-M, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Arkansas. Florida is the preseason favorite in the East, receiving 53 first-place votes, while Georgia has been picked to finish in second and the Bulldogs received 43 first-place votes.

The NFL has fined Saints Coach Sean Payton and Raiders Coach John Gruden for failing to wear face coverings during last night’s game. Each coach will see 100-thousand dollars docked from their pay and the two organizations are also being fined 250-thousand dollars. First-year Mississippi State football coach Mike Leach will make his SEC debut on Saturday when his Bulldogs visit the 6th ranked LSU Tigers. The Southland Conference announced today that seven schools will compete in a six-game regular-season football schedule starting on February 20th and ending on April 10th.
