The Pelicans completed a three-game road trip last night with an embarrassing 139 to 111 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Zion Williamson was held to 16 points and his streak of scoring at least 20 points a game came to an end at 25. New Orleans is 22-and-29 and will host Philadelphia tomorrow.

LSU forward Trendon Watford is entering the NBA draft. The six-foot-nine Birmingham native averaged 16 points and seven rebounds a game last season as he earned All-SEC First Team honors.

Former LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase will attend the NFL draft in Cleveland in person. Chase could go to the Cincinnati Bengals, who have the fifth overall pick.

ULM snapped a six-game losing streak by beating Alabama five to three yesterday. A Danny DeSimone three-run homer in the first inning set the tone. The Warhawks will stay on the road and visit Georgia Southern this weekend.

Voters in 55 of 64 parishes approved Sports Betting last fall and for it to become a reality both a regulatory and tax bill must make it through the state legislature during the legislative session that begins Monday. The legendary voice of the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs Dave Nitz announced today that he will only call Bulldog baseball games starting with the next athletic season. Nitz just completed 47 years behind the mic for Tech football and basketball games.

After opting out of the 2020 football season halfway through and entering the transfer portal, former LSU tight end Arik Gilbert was supposedly in Baton Rouge last week for a visit after initially committing to Florida. Coach Ed Orgeron confirmed the meeting and said it went well.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is hopeful Saints games will be at full capacity next season. Cantrell says she believes by the fall 75-percent of the city’s population will be vaccinated against COVID.

Body-cam footage has officially been released of the incident between LSU receiver Koy Moore and BRPD that occurred back in November which caused Moore to file a complaint.  Chief Murphy Paul says the two officers involved in the incident didn’t do anything wrong but have received training since the incident.

The LSU baseball team got a much-needed win last night against in-state opponent McNeese with a 14-1 victory.  Cade Doughty had a big night at the plate, going 4-5 with four RBI’s on the night.  Also, Giovanni DiGiacomo had a 2 RBI double in his first at-bat since returning from injury.

The Ragin Cajuns edge out a 3-2 win over Nichols, notching all three of their runs in the first three innings. The Cajuns have now won six in a row and sit atop the Sunbelt West at 5-1 and are 18-11 on the season as a whole.

A LSU football program employee tells the USA Today she’s filing several lawsuits against her employer, claiming she’s been mistreated by several LSU athletic department officials. Tiger Rag Editor Ron Higgins says Sharon Lewis also says she’s been denied pay raises and Executive Deputy Athletic Director Verge Ausberry allegedly said to her, “maybe it’s time to find a new job”…

Baylor won its first national championship in men’s college basketball last night as they defeated previously undefeated Gonzaga. A Louisiana native was named Final Four Most Oustanding Player, former Riverside Rebel Jared Butler, who had 22 points last night.

The Pelicans are at Atlanta tonight. Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson are listed as questionable.

LSU pitcher Jaden Hill’s season is over as he’ll need ligament replacement surgery on his throwing elbow. The Tigers will have to turn their season around without him, starting tonight against McNeese. Coach Paul Mainieri is asking his players to keep playing hard…

The LSU baseball team is now 17-11 overall and 1-8 in SEC play after being swept by Vanderbilt this past weekend.  The Tigers still have a long season ahead of them and coach Paul Mainieri says his team needs to figure out how to win close games.

The Ragin Cajuns won three out of four games against UAB this weekend and freshman outfielder Carson Roccaforte has been named Sun Belt Player of the Week.  Roccaforte hit .471 in the four-game series and also set a school record as he stole five bases in a single game.

In the latest FCS Coaches poll…Nicholls dropped to 18th after losing to McNeese and Southeastern Louisiana moved up two spots to 23rd after beating Lamar.

Baylor beat Gonzaga last night 86-70 to claim the national title.  The Bears were led offensively by Riverside Academy alum and Louisiana native Jared Butler as he scored 22 points in the title game.

A New Orleans area youth basketball coach is heard on tape demanding money from LSU, on behalf of his friend Gloria Scott, who has accused former LSU running back Derius Guice of sexual harassment when she worked as a security guard at the Superdome in 2017. LSU released the tapes to the media yesterday. Scott admits she asked for Cleavon Williams’ help but never asked him to seek compensation from LSU.

Grambling is expected to return to the practice field today after missing the last two weeks because of COVID issues within the team.

The LSU baseball team is 1-8 in the SEC after getting swept by number one ranked Vanderbilt.  AJ Labas gave LSU a chance to win on Saturday, but Garrett Edwards gave up a two-run home run in the seventh and the Commodores held on for a five to four win. Here’s Labas on the team’s mindset…

After a three-game series sweep of ULM this past weekend, the Ragin Cajuns baseball team will host Nicholls in a mid-week matchup.  ULL sits at 17-11 overall with a 5-1 Sun Belt record.

In football news, there will be a new quarterback in the NFC South as the New York Jets have traded Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers for multiple draft picks.

Louisiana Tech is off to a six and two start in Conference USA play after taking three of four from UAB.  Saturday’s win was the 20th of the season for the 17th ranked Bulldogs. Sophomore left fielder Adarius Myers says they want to prove they are one of the best teams in the country…

The New Orleans Pelicans got a win over the Houston Rockets last night 122-115.  Lonzo Ball led the way offensively as he poured in 27 points in the victory.  The Pels will play the Hawks tomorrow night.

Lonzo Ball returned to the court last night after missing the last seven games and hit a career-high eight three-pointers as New Orleans defeated Houston 122 to 115. Ball had 27 points on the night to lead the short-handed Pels. The team’s top two scorers, Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram did not play because of injuries.

Southeastern Louisana leads the Southland Conference after splitting a four-game series with McNeese.

Grambling leads the SWAC’s western division after sweeping Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Tigers have won nine of their last eleven.

For the second straight night, top-ranked Vanderbilt took it to the LSU Tigers as the Commodores crushed LSU 11 to 2. Tigers starting pitcher Jaden Hill left in the second inning with an injury to contribute to the tough night for LSU. Tiger hitters struck out 16 times.

17th ranked Louisiana Tech split a doubleheader with U-A-B. Manny Garcia hit a three-run homer to help the Bulldogs beat the Blazers six to four in game one. In Game two, Tech gave up eight runs in the fourth inning and lost nine to three. Cade Gibson suffered the loss as he gave up seven runs.

The Ragin Cajuns clinched their series with ULM by beating the Warhawks five to two. Connor Cooke struck out nine over five innings for his third win.

McNeese and Southeastern Louisiana split doubleheader and so did Northwestern State and Abilene Christian.

The Pelicans were short-handed last night and lost to the Atlanta Hawks 126-to-103. Starters Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Steven Adams didn’t play because of injuries. And New Orleans has also lost guard Josh Hart after tore the U-C-L in his right thumb in Thursday night’s loss to Orlando. The team says Hart will be out indefinitely.

The Senate Select Committee on Women and Children have asked LSU athletic director Scott Woodward, football coach Ed Orgeron, executive deputy AD Verge Ausberry, Senior Associate AD Miriam Segar and some current and former Board of Supervisors members to their meeting on Thursday to discuss the previous mishandling of sexual misconduct cases. Woodward has said he’ll testify, but no word if Coach O will show up.

There’s a couple of college football games in the state today, Southeastern Louisiana hosts Lamar, while 13th ranked Nicholls is at McNeese. The Colonels are looking for their first win in Lake Charles since 2008.

LSU baseball will host Vanderbilt tonight in game two of a three-game series at 8 p.m.  The Tigers fell to the Commodores 13-1 last night.  Jaden Hill will be on the mound tonight for the Tigers and Jack Leiter will get the start for Vandy.

After a 9-5 victory for the Ragin Cajuns on the diamond last night, they will once again face off against ULM tonight at 6 before wrapping up the series tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Nicholls State will play game two of a three-game series tonight when they host UT Martin.  The Colonels got the win last night in game one 2-1 in 11 innings.

The New Orleans Pelicans will be on the road tonight against the Atlanta Hawks.  The Pels are coming off a 115-110 overtime loss to Orlando.  Tipoff is at 6:30.

During spring practice LSU defensive back Jay Ward has received a lot of praise from Coach Ed Orgeron as he’s made a change from cornerback and safety.  Defensive coordinator Daronte Jones says he likes the move to safety…

Tomorrow, Southeastern hosts Lamar and Nicholls visits McNeese at noon.

Also, Southern will be on the road to take on coach Deion Sanders and Jackson State tomorrow at 4 p.m.  The game will be broadcasted on ESPN.  Both the Jaguars and Tigers have a 2-1 record heading into the matchup.

A rule proposal in the NFL would allow defensive backs, linebacker, and running backs to wear single-digit jersey numbers.  This means that if the rule is approved, we could potentially see former LSU running back Leonard Fournette back in number 7, the same number he wore in Baton Rouge.  Fournette expressed his desire to move back to his old number.
