Wilson says quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, Mansoor Delane and linebacker Whit Weeks will not play in the bowl game. Nussmeier and Delane are hurt and will get ready for the NFL draft. Weeks is also recovering from a broken ankle, and could forgo his senior season and enter the NFL draft.

Will Wilson be on Lane Kiffin’s staff? Wilson says a decision on that has not been made. Kiffin is expected to bring Ole Miss running backs coach Kevin Smith with him to LSU, leaving Wilson without a spot on Kiffin’s staff.

The Jena High School football team is preparing for its first-ever state championship game appearance. After losing in the semifinals the last two seasons, head coach Jay Roark says it’s nice to get over the hump.

Jena is 13-and-0 and the top seed in Division Two non-select. But they will have to beat defending champ Sterlington on Friday afternoon.

LSU’s Frank Wilson will serve as the interim head coach for the Tigers when they play Houston in the Texas Bowl on December 27th. But Wilson’s future with the program is uncertain as he did not provide any clarity when speaking with reporters Tuesday morning…

Eleven Louisiana Tech football players have announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal. But Tech coach Sonny Cumbie says a few of those players have indicated they want to play in the Indy Bowl…

For the first time ever, the Iowa Yellow Jackets will play in a state championship football game. Iowa head coach Tommy Johns says the team has the Calcasieu Parish town buzzing.

Iowa will play North DeSoto on Friday at noon. The Griffins are the top seed in Division Two non-select. North DeSoto has never won a state title.

Mangham is looking for its first state championship since 1956 as the Dragons will take on Haynesville on Thursday at noon in the Division Four non-select title game. Mangham Coach Scott Wilcher says they are playing for their Richland Parish town.

Mangham lost to Haynesville in its last State championship game in 2013 and 2014.

The Pelicans lost their seventh straight yesterday despite a triple double from rookie Derik Queen. New Orleans fell to the Spurs 135 to 132 and Queen had 33 points, ten rebounds and ten assists.

Two LSU players have announced plans to enter the transfer portal. Defensive tackle Ahmad Breaux from Ruston is leaving LSU after two seasons. He appeared in 24 games and recorded 36 tackles. Cornerback Ashton Stamps also says he will put his name in the portal. Stamps was a part-time starter in 2023, a full-time starter in 2024, but dropped behind PJ Woodland and DJ Pickett on the depth chart this season.

The Ragin Cajuns have eight more days to prepare for their bowl game against Delaware in Mobile. Coach Michael Desormeaux’s team is trying to finish the season on a five-game winning streak and U-L Lafayette is looking for its first bowl win in three years…

Someone will win their first state championship in high school football on Friday afternoon when Iowa meets North DeSoto in the Division Two non-select state championship GAME. For the Griffins, this is their second-ever appearance in a state title game. Coach Dennis Dunn led North DeSoto to the title game in 2022…

The Pelicans rallied from a 20-point halftime deficit, only to lose to San Antonio 135 to 132. Career night for rookie Derik Queen as the Pelicans center had a triple-double, 33 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. But he missed a game-winning three-point attempt in the final seconds.

The Saints went on the road and beat the top team in the NFC South yesterday for their third win of the season. New Orleans upset Tampa Bay 24-20. Rookie Quarterback Tyler Shough only threw for 144 yards in the rain, but he had two rushing touchdowns, including a 13-yard run to give the Saints the lead for good in the fourth quarter…

Running back Devin Neal got the game ball from Coach Kellen Moore as he rushed for 70 yards including a three-yard TD run to give New Orleans an early lead.

Tulane University is reportedly promoting passing game coordinator Will Hall to head coach. Hall did not have a good run at Southern Miss as he was 14 and 30 as the Golden Eagles head coach from 2021 to 2014.

Jon Sumrall will coach the team when the Green Wave face Ole Miss for a second time this season in a College Football Playoff matchup on December 20^th.

The Prep Football Classic begins Thursday in the Caesars Superdome, and the marquee matchup that day will be the Division 3 select state title game between Dunham and Calvary Baptist. The Tigers are led by one of the best quarterbacks in the nation in the Class of 2027, Elijah Haven. Dunham Coach Neil Weiner says his three-year starter at quarterback has played at a high level since he walked on campus…

Haven has been named the Gatorade Louisiana player of the year.

The 5^th ranked LSU women’s basketball team scored a season-high 126 points in a 126 to 62 blowout victory over winless UNO.

The LSU men’s basketball team suffered its first loss, an 82-58 defeat to Texas Tech yesterday.

Tulane is in the College Football Playoffs and they will face a familiar opponent in the opening round when the Green Wave visits the Lane Kiffin-less Ole Miss Rebels on December 20^th in Oxford.

The two teams met at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on September 20th, and the Rebels ran Tulane out of the stadium, winning 45-10. Green Wave Coach Jon Sumrall says things will be different four months later…

The winner of this game will play Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on January 1^st.

LSU football is headed back to the Texas Bowl, where they’ll play the 21^st ranked Houston Cougars. Houston is 9-3 and 6-3 in the Big 12. The Tigers beat Baylor in the Texas Bowl last year.

Louisiana Tech is in the Independence Bowl and will play future Sun Belt opponent Coastal Carolina on December 30^th in Shreveport.

The Ragin Cajuns will play Delaware in Mobile on December 17^th.

The Saints avenged a bad loss to the Buccaneers six weeks ago, flipping the script and beating them in Tampa, 24-20, yesterday. Head Coach Kellen Moore says despite being eliminated from playoff contention a week ago, the team put forth a great effort to earn its third win of the season.

Cut 16 (17) “…with the win.”

Saints rookie Q-B Tyler Shough completed 13 of 20 passes for only 144 yards and had one of his passes picked off. However, he also rushed for 55 yards and scored two of the Saints’ three TDs; the other was scored by Devin Neal.

LSU men’s basketball suffered its first loss, losing to 19th-ranked Texas Tech 82-58. The fifth-ranked LSU Lady Tigers dribbled past the UNO Privateers 126 to 62. LSU is 10-and-0.

Tonight is the semifinals of the high school football playoffs and there are several big games in the Monroe area. Top-seeded Ruston, who is looking to get to the Superdome for the fourth consecutive season will host Zachary in a rematch of the 2023 Division one non-select state title game.

The other semifinal game in that bracket is Neville versus Ouachita Parish. The Tigers beat the Lions by one point in week eight of the season. Sterlington hosts St James in a rematch of last year’s Division three non-select state title game won by the Panthers.

At Yulman Stadium in New Orleans, Tulane hosts North Texas in the American Athletic Conference Championship game. The winner will get a spot in the 12-team college football playoff. Green Wave Coach Jon Sumrall is looking for a big game from his 22-year-old quarterback Jake Retzlaff…

LSU has announced football season ticket costs will remain the same for 2026. The LSU Board of Supervisors approved a price increase for season tickets, but after the bad loss to Texas A&M, Governor Jeff Landry said the board should rethink that vote and they did.

St. Thomas More High School Quarterback Cole Bergeron has signed with Georgia Tech.

Number-21 Tulane hosts number-24 North Texas tonight in the American Conference Championship game, with the winner likely gaining an invitation to the College Football Playoff. The Mean Green come into the matchup with the top offense in the nation, averaging over 46 points a game. Green Wave Head coach Jon Sumrall has confidence his defense can slow them down…

Two huge matchups in New Orleans highlight tonight’s semifinal action on the select side of the high school football playoffs. The fifth ranked LSU women’s basketball team fell behind 17 to 3 at Duke last night but stormed back and ended up winning comfortably 93 to 77. The Lady Tigers had six players score in double figures led by Senior Flau’jae Johnson who had 18 points, five rebounds and three assists. Jada Richard from Opelousas had six points on the night…

In recruiting news…Four-star edge rusher Trenton Henderson has signed with LSU. Auburn and Florida State made a strong push to sign Henderson, who is ranked as the seventh best player in Florida according to 24-7 sports.

LSU could lose defensive coordinator Blake Baker. Baker is reportedly poised to be the next head coach at Tulane. Former LSU and La Tech assistant Joe Sloan will reportedly be the new offensive coordinator at Kentucky.

For the first time this season, the fifth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team did not score 100 points, but the Lady Tigers still improved to 9-0 after beating Duke 93-77. Flau’jae Johnson had 18 points as LSU shot 60 percent from the field.

LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker is reportedly set to become the next head coach at Tulane. Former LSU offensive coordinator Joe Sloan has reportedly been hired as the new O-C at Kentucky. And Billy Napier is headed back to the Sun Belt as he is expected to be named as the new head coach at James Madison.

ULM introduced 32-year-old S-J Touhy as its new athletics director.

Today is the final day of the early signing period. LSU has already signed the top offensive lineman in the state, Brysten Martinez from East Ascension High School. Texas pushed hard for Martinez, but Martinez says LSU hiring Lane Kiffin sealed the deal for him…

Veteran linebacker DeMario Davis is the Saints candidate for the Walter Payton Man of the Year.

On3.com ranks LSU’s 2026 recruiting class as the tenth best in the country. The Tigers have 16 commitments and ten players have officially signed including Lafayette Christian Academy wide receiver Brayden Allen…

Cut 17 (11) “…over here”

As of now, LSU does not have a quarterback in its high school recruiting class. They were trying to flip one of the top prep quarterbacks in the country. But Landon Duckworth from Alabama will sign with South Carolina this afternoon.

ULM signed 20 players yesterday, many of them are junior college players, including Christian Johnson a quarterback from Hutchinson Community College.

McNeese’s recruiting class is ranked as the best in the Southland Conference, it includes a three-star quarterback from Texas,  Brady Barrier.

Cut 14 (09) “…a crazy matchup”

Crazy game for the LSU men’s basketball team last night as they nearly blew a double digit lead on the road versus Boston College, but rallied at the end to tie it at regulation and the Tigers won it in overtime 78-69. LSU did not miss a shot in overtime, three for three from the field, one for one from three point territory and ten for ten from the free throw line.  LSU is 8-0.

Despite the coaching change, LSU could still have a top ten recruiting class. The Tigers 2026 class is currently ranked 10^th by On3.com. Highlighting the class so far is Richard Anderson. The number one defensive tackle in the country out of Edna Karr, ended up signing on Wednesday despite reports saying he would wait to see who his position coach would be. ‘

In Acadiana, Lafayette Christian’s Bryaden Anderson signed after recently decommitting from Oklahoma. Anderson is glad he’s staying home…

LSU men’s basketball improved to 8-0 as the Tigers beat Boston College 78 to 69 in O-T. The Tigers were down by five with five minutes to go. LSU forced overtime and won with Dee-dawn Thomas scoring 23 points to lead the way.

In Division One non-select, Zachary is at top seeded Ruston. The LHSAA Network’s Spencer Verrett says the Bearcats have beaten the Broncos the last three years in the postseason.

Some other intriguing south versus north matchups. In Division two non-select, Plaquemine is at top seeded North Desoto. St. James visits Sterlington in a rematch of last year’s division three non-select state championship game won by the Panthers. And in Division four non-select, fourth seeded Jeanerette is at top-seed Haynesville, while South Plaquemines visits Mangham.

La Tech men’s basketball lost last night, falling to Georgia Southern 77 to 69. Also the Cajuns fell to Lamar, while ULM beat Mississippi Valley State.
