The Chicago Sky has traded former LSU great and current two-time WNBA All-Star, Angel Reese, to the Atlanta Dream in exchange for a 2027 and 2028 first-round pick. Reese led the WNBA in rebounds last season with 12.6 boards per game. She also recorded a league-high 23 double-doubles.

LSU has hired former Miami assistant coach Fitzroy Anthony as one of Kim Mulkey’s two assistant coach additions this offseason. Anthony joins the Tigers’ coaching staff after spending 11 seasons at the University of Miami as an assistant coach since 2015. After seven successful seasons in Coral Gables, Anthony was promoted to associate head coach in 2022.

On the recruiting front, Oak Grove’s Caroline Bradley – a consensus five-star and the nation’s No. 1 center in the Class of 2027 – is set to announce her college choice during a family crawfish boil tonight. She is deciding between LSU, South Carolina, UCLA, Duke, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, Alabama, Kentucky, and Texas A&M.

Arrambide’s fourth home run of the day was a grand slam that ignited a ten-run, 12th inning.

Arramabide earned SEC Co-Player of the Week honors after his historic performance on Sunday. He batted .600 (6-for-10) in three games last week, hitting four home runs with eight RBIs, six runs scored, three walks, and a .692 on-base percentage.

With their series win, the Tigers are now ranked No. 24 by D1Baseball.com. LSU will return to action on Tuesday, hosting Bethune-Cookman at 6:30 p.m.

The bond for the alleged drunk driver who plowed into a crowd at a Lao New Year’s Festival in Iberia Parish Saturday has been set at nearly a quarter-million dollars. 57-year-old Todd Landry of Jeanerette is facing several charges. Nineteen people were hurt, with three remaining in the ICU. All are expected to survive. The sheriff’s office said over the weekend that it appears to be unintentional, but the investigation is still ongoing.

The manhunt continues for a man who St. Bernard Parish investigators say shot and killed his mother and grandmother during an argument last night. 22-year-old Lee Collins the Third allegedly shot 75-year-old Mary Major and 55-year-old Trenelle Collins inside a home, and Sheriff James Pohlmann says he also shot at someone else.

Pohlmann says Collins drove off in a flatbed truck and likely fled into Mississippi last night.

Louisiana Public Broadcasting premieres eight new episodes of its travel series LA64 tonight. The show goes to St. Martin Parish tonight, and Executive Producer Linda Midgett says the show will go to seven additional parishes between now and the end of May, when the current season wraps up.

A man is arrested for allegedly smuggling contraband into the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center. The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office says 31-year-old Treyondrick Williams told deputies he smokes weed and thought he cleaned out his car before arriving at the prison but didn’t clean it well enough. Williams is charged with taking contraband into a penal institution.

A Denham Springs representative is asking the LHSAA to make dance, cheer and lacrosse sanctioned high school sports under its authority. Republican Roger Wilder’s resolution passed in the House Education Committee unanimously. Wilder told the committee he was alerted to the issue by a constituent.

A new AARP report finds that 900-thousand Louisianans are caregivers for adults, including older parents, spouses, neighbors and other loved ones. Director of Advocacy at AARP Louisiana, Andrew Muhl, says the Louisiana Legislature should do more to help these adults provide long-term care…

Muhl says 20-percent of long-term Medicaid dollars goes towards services so an individual can live at home, while 80-percent goes to nursing homes. He says AARP is advocating for that ratio to be more like 40-60.

 

New episodes of the travel series LA 64 premiere on Louisiana Public Broadcasting tonight at eight. As the name of the series suggests, LA64 will spotlight all 64 parishes over the course of five seasons, focusing on places less traveled. Executive Producer Linda Midgett says every parish has its own personality.

Two women are shot to death in St. Bernard Parish last night. The sheriff’s office there says 22-year-old Lee Collins the Third got into an argument with the two women, who were his mother and his grandmother, and he shot both of them. They say Collins also shot at his father but did not hit him. Collins is still on the loose.

Three weeks into the legislative session and it’s quiet when it comes to debate on significant legislation and that might be design. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says the Landry administration is not pushing any significant legislation after doing a lot of heavy lifting in his first two years in office.

The latest update from the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office says 19 people were evaluated and taken to area hospitals after an alleged drunk driver plowed into a group of parade goers watching the Lao New Year parade in Broussard. Three of the victims remain in intensive care. Todd Landry of Jeanerette has been booked on multiple charges.

Those of you heading into or out of Lafayette on I-49, be prepared to see some road work. Andrew Greenstein reports.

A new AARP report finds that 900-thousand Louisianans are caregivers for adults. Director of Advocacy at AARP Louisiana, Andrew Muhl, says 20-percent of long-term Medicaid dollars is spent on services so an individual can live at home, while 80-percent goes to nursing homes. He says AARP would like to see it closer to 40-60 giving family caregivers state assistance to keep their loved ones at home…

AARP is advocating that the state provides an additional 750 waivers so families can take advantage of home and community-based services.

The injury toll in Iberia Parish is up to 19 after a suspected drunk driver plowed into a crowd at the Lao New Year’s Festival. We’re hearing that all victims are expected to survive. The suspect is 57-year-old Todd Landry of Jeanerette. While the Sheriff’s Office has said it did not appear to be intentional, the investigation is still ongoing.

Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says the most emotional debate so far was over a bill to prohibit the use of eminent domain for carbon capture and sequestration projects. He says legislative leaders have made sure that and other controversial bills make it out of committee…

At least 19 people were injured when a suspected impaired driver ran his car into a parade crowd at the Louisiana Lao New Year Festival on Saturday afternoon. 57-year-old Todd Landry of Jeanerette was arrested for driving while impaired. The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office says Landry had a BAC of 0.137 far above the 0.08 legal limit. Landry faces charges of first offense driving while impaired, 18 counts of first-degree negligent injuring, careless operation, and open container. 13 people were transported to hospitals with four reported in critical condition.
