State Police say a 7 year old was killed in a single vehicle crash in St. Charles parish.  Trooper Melissa Matey says they believe the driver, 32 year old Islam Ezzo was impaired when he ran off of the roadway.

Lake Charles Police are investigating a shooting Sunday evening that killed a 10-year-old and seriously injured a 17-year-old. Deputy Chief Mark Kraus says police are actively searching for a suspect or suspects. He says it was a grim scene when they responded to the call…:

A Louisiana lawmaker would like the state to stop giving the Saints public dollars after several players didn’t stand during the national anthem yesterday. St. Francisville Rep. Kenny Havard says Louisiana has made dramatic cuts to departments across the board and now is the perfect time to redistribute money given to a sports franchise that is not grateful.

The Saints receive millions of dollars from the state as part of its lease agreement with the Superdome.

Several Saints players sat on the bench during the anthem, after President Donald Trump said players who didn’t stand during the national anthem should be fired. New Orleans Head Coach Sean Payton is disappointed in Mr. Trump’s statements…

The President says the issue of kneeling has nothing to do with race, it’s about respecting our country, flag and National Anthem.

A 32-year-old Hahnville man faces several charges, including vehicular homicide, after he was allegedly driving impaired in a rollover wreck that killed a seven-year-old girl in St. Charles Parish. State Trooper Melissa Matey says this is a very tragic crash….

The driver, Islam Ezzo, also suffered serious injuries.

Six Winnfield Senior High School students were recognized on the House floor by Congressman Ralph Abraham after serving as pallbearers for a World War II veteran. 93-year-old Thomas Hunter had no close family so the football players stepped up after learning about the situation. Abraham says this is an inspiring story about a community rallying to honor a hero…:

The vet who died was identified as 93-year-old Thomas Hunter.

A 10-year-old was killed and a teenager was injured in a shooting that happened last night in Lake Charles. Deputy Chief Mark Kraus says this is not a case where two children were playing with a gun and it accidentally discharged. He says someone shot these kids….

The 10-year-old child that died is Jaylyn Citizen and the 17-year-old is in stable condition, after undergoing surgery.

Ten Saints players sat on the bench during the national anthem prior to the team’s win over Carolina, now a state lawmaker says it’s time for Louisiana to stop giving the professional franchise taxpayer dollars. St. Francisville Representative Kenny Havard says these players have a right to protest, but they should not do it during the anthem….

Kenny Havard says they have looked at cutting funding to the Saints in the past. He says the state also rents office space in Benson Tower for an extremely expensive price…:

President Donald Trump said Friday that owners should fire players who don’t stand for the anthem, and he called them sons of bs. Saints Quarterback Drew Brees says he disagrees with what the president said…:

ULM’s Caleb Evans was named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the week after accounting for a career-best 472 total yards in the Warhawks 56-50 double-overtime victory over the Ragin Cajuns. Evans also tied a school single game record with five rushing touchdowns.

A hearing is set for today on a motion to change the venue of Norris Greenhouse Jr.’s trial in the death of 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis in Avoyelles Parish. Michelle Southern reports…:

The first of two funerals is this afternoon for the two teenagers that were killed in Caldwell Parish following the Caldwell Parish High School homecoming parade. 16-year-old Tristen Robinson and 15-year-old Ava Crockett were killed on Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash. The wreck remains under investigation.

The US Supreme Court is expected to decide today whether to accept a petition by a New Orleans man who was convicted on a 10-2 vote of murder in 2015. Louisiana is one of two states where a unanimous decision is not necessary for a felony conviction. Loyola Law Professor Dane Ciolino says for years the nation’s high court has allowed non-unanimous verdicts in Louisiana and Oregon…:

Ciolino says the best argument these petitioners can make is that 10-2 is not constitutionally sufficient

In a release distributed late Sunday night, St. Francisville Representative Kenny Havard said he thinks the state should claw back incentives paid to the New Orleans Saints after some players didn’t stand for the National Anthem Sunday in protest to criticism from President Donald Trump. Havard said disrespecting our National Anthem and flag in the name of social injustice is the highest form of hypocrisy. The Saints have condemned the president’s remarks about players being called named and fired if they protest.

Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro says he didn’t plan to lead an inequality protest during the national anthem during Sunday’s game against the Panthers, but felt it was the right thing to do. Quarterback Drew Brees does not agree with protesting the national anthem, but felt the president calling people who do names and saying they should be fired is very unbecoming of his office. Coach Sean Payton said it seems every time the president opens his mouth he’s saying something that only divides us further. Some fans are so upset about some players protests that they are burning memorabilia and calling for a boycott.

Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser is visiting Europe this week, to promote Louisiana and the direct flights to New Orleans. He says he’ll be making many radio appearances and plans to talk about the music here, the food and other great things to see here in Louisiana…:
