Republicans Louisiana Congressman Steve Scalise and Ohio’s Jim Jordan have announced their campaigns for Speaker of the House after Kevin McCarthy was ousted on Tuesday. Scalise’s personal health, as he undergoes treatment for Multiple Myeloma, is a concern. The Advocate’s Mark Ballard, who’s in DC, believes Scalise’s health is not an issue.

The girl was issued a summons for Menacing and later released to her parents’ custody. Sheriff Randy Smith says the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office will continue to work with schools to investigate any and all threats to schools and students.

Candler submitted the tax returns claiming deductions for more than $400 thousand in false business expenses. Candler is charged with filing or maintaining false public records, illegal transmission of monetary funds, and computer fraud.

DOTD is upgrading 12 hundred traffic signals at intersections in Louisiana to include flashing yellow left-turn arrows. The $11 million project, which started seven years ago, has upgraded traffic signals to four options: red, yellow, flashing yellow arrow, and green. Spokesperson Rodney Mallett says the new configuration will help motorists think twice about oncoming traffic.
