LSU closes out the regular season at 8th-ranked Oklahoma this afternoon. Despite a disappointing season, the Tigers are looking to play spoiler for a new SEC rival on the edge of the College Football Playoffs. Linebacker Whit Weeks says the first step will be dealing with experienced Sooners quarterback John Mateer.

Mateer has thrown for over 2,00 yards with ten touchdowns and seven interceptions this season. He’s also added almost 300 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin’s long-awaited decision is expected sometime this afternoon. Kiffin led the Rebels to a 38-19 Egg Bowl victory yesterday and after the game said he still had yet to make a decision.

He said yesterday was spent enjoying his team’s win and watching his son Knox’s Oxford High School team. Oxford fell 21-20 to Tupelo in the North Half Mississippi State championship despite three touchdown passes from Kiffin.

In Louisiana high school playoff scores, chaos In the Division one non-select bracket continued with Zachary upsetting Central 31-27 and Ouachita Parish taking down Parkway 28-22. They’ll have matchups with the top two seeds Ruston and Neville who dominated Cinderella Barbe 42-0.

Ole Miss Head Coach Lane Kiffin will reveal his future landing spot tomorrow. Last week Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger reported LSU offered him a 7-year $90 million contract. ESPN Baton Rouge’s Matt Moscona says there’s no such thing as a sure thing in coaching searches.

Florida has reportedly moved on from Kiffin so it looks like the decision is down to Baton Rouge or Oxford.

The Tigers end their regular season against 8th-ranked Oklahoma tomorrow. Linebacker Whit Weeks has been sidelined much of the second half of the season with what he just revealed was a broken ankle, not the bone bruise initially reported. He returned in a limited capacity last week and says the pain won’t stop him from taking the field against a top ten team.

Louisiana Tech will close out the regular season at Missouri State tomorrow afternoon. The Bulldogs have been led by their dominant defense all season, but they gave up nearly 300 yards and two touchdowns on the ground to Liberty last week. Head coach Sonny Cumbie says Missouri State and running back Shomari Lawrence have another potent rushing attack they’ll need to stop.

Tulane can earn the right to host the American conference championship with a home win over 1-and-10 Charlotte tomorrow night. Just two wins away from the program’s first ever College football Playoff berth, Green Wave head coach Jon Sumrall announced he’ll make a decision Sunday morning on his future. He’s drawn interest from SEC schools like Florida and Auburn.

Black Friday may not have the same look this year, but it will still be the busiest shopping day of the year. Jeff Palermo has what you need to know.

LSU travels Oklahoma to face the 8th-ranked Sooners tomorrow. The regular season finale will give the Tigers a chance to reach eight wins this season, the lowest mark for LSU since 2021. Linebacker Whit Weeks, though, says a bad record won’t stop the Tigers from giving their best each and every week.

Thanksgiving has come and gone. The Lions have lost and leftovers are in the fridge, so that can only mean one thing. Stores will be packed with Christmas shoppers, but the chaos of Black Friday is certainly not for everyone.

Black Friday deals this year may not have been the door busters you’re used to seeing. LSU marketing professor Dan Rice just because something is on sale doesn’t make it a good deal.

He says the increased prices, though, will result in more overall Black Friday spending this year, and it certainly won’t stop today from being the busiest shopping day of the year. The national Retail Federation reports that a record 186.9 million people are planning to shop from Thanksgiving day through Cyber Monday, a number up more than 3 million total shoppers from the previous record last year.

UL-Lafayette and ULM face off for a rivalry week showdown at 2 p.m.

And Tulane can punch their ticket to hosting an American Conference championship with a win over 1-and-10 Charlotte at 6:30.

Black Friday may not have the same chaos or luster that it used to as prices increase and discounts decrease. Consumer sentiment is shifting away from in-person shopping, and only 11-percent of shoppers are more interested in Black Friday shopping this year than years passed. Despite all the negative trends LSU marketing professor Dan Rice says today will still easily be the busiest shopping day of the year.

Rice Says Black Friday spending is expected to be up 4-percent this year.

Not all consumers plan to join the hordes of shoppers today, though. For some, Christmas shopping can be a real hassle, especially on the busiest shopping day of the year.

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin will finally announce where he plans to coach next year tomorrow. Many college football analysts think he’ll end up at LSU, but if Kiffin decides against coming to Baton Rouge, ESPN Baton Rouge’s Matt Moscona says things get a little hazier.

Southeastern head coach Frank Scelfo spoke to WWL’s Mike Detillier about the Lions’ outstanding season and FCS playoff matchup with Illinois State tomorrow. The 9-and-3 lions are led by a dominant defense featuring lineman and Southland Conference Player of the Year Kaleb Proctor and Southland Defensive Player of the Year linebacker KK Reno. Scelfo says this is a special team.

The Louisiana high school quarterfinals kick off tomorrow night across the state. Top-seeded Lafayette Chirstian will host Catholic High of New Iberia in the Division III select bracket. The Panthers are defending state champs and went 10-and-2 this season but LHSAA Network’s Spencer Verrett thinks their time may be running out.

LSU officially notified Brian Kelly he was fired without cause yesterday and will owe him the full amount of his $54 million buyout. School officials argued the timing of and reason for Kelly’s firing to lessen the buyout cost for which Kelly filed suit against the school. Kelly will receive monthly payments over the next six years as long s he’s making  good faith effort to find a job. The resolution comes just days before Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is set to announce his future plans.

Southern is hiring New Orleans native and Pro and College Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk to be the new head football coach. 52-year-old Faulk is a former NFL MVP and three-time Offensive Player of the Year and has spent his only year of coaching as the running backs coach at Colorado this season. He’ll replace coach Terrence Graves who was fired after a 1-and-6 start to this season.

The Pelicans fell short in overtime, losing a 133-128 contest to the Grizzlies last night. Jose Alvarado led the team with 24 points, and the Pels had eight players reach double figures. The loss knocks New Orleans down to 0-and-4 in NBA Cup play, 1-and-6 under interim head coach James Borrego, and 3-and-16 this season.

The Louisiana Tech men’s basketball team earned a dramatic 75-73 victory over Indiana State yesterday. After the Sycamores tied the game on a leaning corner three with 23 seconds to go, Bulldogs guard DJ Dudley hit a contested jumper in the paint to take the lead with just one second left on the clock. Tech improves to 3-and-2 on the season and will host Alcorn State Saturday.

A national college football reporter is reporting it’s looking more likely that Lane Kiffin ends up at LSU. Jeff Palermo has the story…

Tulane is ranked 24th in the most recent College Football Playoff rankings and just two wins away from a playoff berth as the top ranked group of five school. A win at home over 1-and-10 Charlotte Saturday means the Green Wave will host an American Conference Championship game. Their most likely opponent is one-loss North Texas.

The busiest travel week of the year is here, and State Police are reminding drivers to stay safe. Trooper Ryan Davis says always, never take the wheel after you’ve had too much to drink. If you plan on having a good time – perhaps TOO good of a time – have a plan beforehand.

Louisiana Surgeon General Dr. Ralph Abraham has been selected as the new principal deputy director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. During his time as the state’s first surgeon general, Abraham worked to end the promotion of vaccination clinics in the state. The Advocate’s D.C. correspondent Mark Ballard says Abraham will use his new role to take that mission national.

College football writer Ross Dellenger of Yahoo-sports says the signs are pointing toward Lane Kiffin leaving Ole Miss and heading to LSU, but nothing is guaranteed.

Kiffin and the Rebels are scheduled to announce his future plans Saturday.

Arkansas is hiring South Florida head coach Alex Golesh to replace Sam Pittman in Fayetteville. Golesh was previously the offensive coordinator at Tennessee and has led the Bulls to an 8-and-3 record this season.

In Feast Week men’s hoops U-N-O will look to pull off another upset as they visit 20th-ranked Texas Tech at noon today.

Southeastern Louisiana travels to UNC Wilmington at 6:00 tonight.

And Louisiana Tech hosts Indiana State in the TAC at 6:30. The Lady Techsters will visit 15th-ranked Baylor at 2:00 this afternoon.

Interim head coach James Borrego will look to make it two wins in a row as the Pelicans host the Grizzlies in their final NBA Cup matchup tonight at 7.

The quarterfinals of the high school playoffs kick off Friday. LHSAA Network’s Spencer Verrett says he’s circling Belle Chasse versus West Feliciana in Division Two. Coach Stephen Meyers’ Cardinals have the makings of a championship contender.

UL-Lafayette is just one win away from becoming bowl eligible for the eighth straight year. The Cajuns take on ULM Saturday for rivalry weekend, and head coach Michael Desormeaux (DEZ-er-moe) says he wants his team to start out faster and be able to finish the season strong.

The Saints signed former LSU and Browns kicker Cade York to the practice squad after releasing former starter Blake Grupe today, Grupe ranked 38th in the league in field goal percentage and missed two kicks in Sunday’s loss to the Falcons. York joins second-year placekicker Chalie Smyth on the practice squad and seemingly landed the spot over form Ravens kicker Justin tucker who also worked out with the team yesterday.

Death Valley is set to host multi-platinum artist Zach Bryan March 28 next year. It will be the first show in Tiger stadium since Garth Brook’s 2022 performance. Opened by Caamp and J.R. Carroll, the concert will be the fourth stop on his With Heaven On Tour which LSU Deputy Athletics Director Clay Harris says features multiple college football stadiums.

Willis Knighton Health’s Progressive Care Center in Shreveport earned a Best Nursing Home Award for 2026 by the U.S. News and World Report. Administrator Debra Crump says all glory goes to her staff.

U.S. News evaluated nearly 15=thousand centers on their patient and resident outcomes, staffing ratio, and inspection results. Of the nearly 15-thousand, Progressive Care Center was near the top.

Former LSU wideout Ja’Marr Chase apologized on social media for spitting on Steelers cornerback Jalen Ramsey two weeks ago. Chase originally denied the incident before being suspended for Sunday’s game by the NFL. Chase and the Bengals will take the field Thanksgiving night in Baltimore along with quarterback Joe Burrow who is set to return after missing the last two months with a toe injury.

Southern and Grambling will face off in the Dome for the 51st Bayou Classic this weekend. The Tigers are looking to beat Southern for the first time since 2021, which would give Grambling its first 8-win season since 2017. Head coach Mickey Joseph says the rivalry between the two teams will only last until the game is over.

Kickoff in New Orleans Saturday is at 1 p.m.

The Pelicans notched their first win under interim head coach James Borrego in a 143-130 home victory over the Bulls last night. New Orleans returns to action tomorrow night against Memphis in their final NBA Cup game.

McNeese earned a 73-60 win over Murray State on day two of the Cayman Islands Classic and take on Middle Tennessee at 4:00 this afternoon.

UL-Lafayette fell to 1–and-6 after a 77-56 loss to UC Davis last night.
