The state health department says one-point-two million Louisiana residents are fully vaccinated, but the C-D-C says Louisiana has the third-lowest percentage of vaccinations of its eligible population.

About one thousand people filled the Pete Maravich Assembly Center yesterday afternoon to welcome Kim Mukley back home. The Tickfaw native and Hall of Fame coach is taking over the Lady Tigers basketball program after leading Baylor to three national championships. LSU women’s hoops had a great run in the mid-2000s when they reached the Final four five consecutive times, but Mulkey wants to do better…

Mulkey is the eighth coach in LSU women’s basketball history and takes over a program that went 9-and-13 last season.

The Pelicans moved within four games of Golden State for the final spot in the play-in tournament with a 120 to 103 win over the Los Angeles Clippers last night. Zion Williamson had 23 points, while Lonzo Ball and Eric Bledsoe chipped in with 18 points. The Pels are at Denver tomorrow night.

LSU is 6-and-12 in the SEC after winning two of three from 19th ranked Ole Miss. The Tigers have won back-to-back series, but Coach Paul Mainieri says they still have a bad taste in their mouth after blowing an eight-run lead on Saturday and losing 10-9 to the Rebels…

LSU will host Grambling State at 4 PM today. Grambling is coming off a three-game sweep over Texas Southern. They scored double digits in every game.

Louisiana Tech has fallen three spots to number 18 in the coaches poll. The Bulldogs are at Middle Tennessee this weekend.

Louisiana reportedly has one million COVID vaccine doses sitting in coolers as demand for the shot has declined rapidly.

The number of shots administered peaked the week of March 18th at 168,000 and fell to 45,000 last week. Governor John Bel Edwards…

Roughly a third of the state has gotten at least one shot, third-worst in the nation.

Edwards says the state is doing its best to persuade those on the fence. Today they sent out over 100,000 letters to residents encouraging them to utilize a mass vaccination site in Baton Rouge.

That FEMA mass vaccination site in Baton Rouge is capable of administering 3,000 shots a day. Edwards says right now it’s only doing about 100 a day.

The ongoing public health emergency declaration expires Wednesday. Edwards says the last restrictions will not get lifted until enough people get vaccinated.

The search continues for the seven crewmembers of the Seacore Power who remain missing after the commercial lift boat capsized nearly two weeks ago during stormy weather in the Gulf of Mexico. Federal health officials uncovered 15 vaccine recipients who developed blood clots out of nearly eight million who received Johnson and Johnson’s shot, but they believe the benefits outweigh the risk.
