Two adults and two children were killed in a head on crash yesterday morning on U-S 61 near I-310 in St. Charles Parish. State Trooper Jacob Pucheu says 38-year-old Benjamin Alexis of Chalmette was driving the wrong way on US 61….

Alexis and the other driver, 33-year-old Mathieu Christophe of LaPlace died at the scene. Alexis’ two children were killed and a third child is in critical condition.

Former nursing home owner Bob Dean who transported more than 800 nursing home patients to a warehouse in Tangipahoa Parish before Hurricane Ida made landfall in 2021 has avoided jail time, even though he pleaded no contest to 15 felony counts. Several nursing home patients died as a result of his plan as the warehouse was not equipped to handle that many elderly and fragile people. The 70-year-old Dean was placed on three years probation and Legal analyst Franz Borghardt says Dean’s age is one reason why he was not sentenced to jail…

Former nursing home owner Bob Dean has pleaded no contest to 15 felony counts for the disastrous mismanagement of his facilities during Hurricane Ida. Sean Richardson has more.

According to a report from the Public Affairs Research Council, about 867-thousand low income residents each month receive food stamps and 45-percent of those recipients are children. That means one out of every five people in Louisiana relies on food stamps.

Nicholls was picked to repeat as Southland Conference champs in the preseason media poll. The Colonels went a perfect 7-and-0 in conference play last season and just edged out Incarnate Word in this year’s poll. Head Coach Tim Rebowe says his team is ready to live up to their lofty expectations…

The Cincinnati Bengals say Joe Burrow’s surgically repaired wrist is ready for training camp and he’ll be ready to go fo the first practice. Burrow tore a ligament in his right wrist in the tenth game last year. The injury occurred on November 16th and he had surgery on November 27th.

Two 18-year-olds were killed in a head-on crash in Lafourche Parish involving an underage immigrant driver, who authorities say was impaired. State Police Trooper Ross Brennan says 18-year-old Axel Flores-Cordova of Honduras slammed head-on into a vehicle on Highway 3090 near the Fourchon area

Brennan did not have any information on whether Flores-Cordova is in the United States legally. He has been booked into the Lafourche Parish detention center on multiple charges…

Louisiana’s delegation to the Democratic National Convention has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Presidential nominee. State Democratic Party chairman Randal Gaines says a vote was taken virtually on Sunday night.

New Orleans Representative Mandie Landry says Biden and his family have sacrificed so much in the last few years and she’s glad he was the one to choose to step down as the party’s nominee.

PSC Commissioner Davante Lewis says Biden looked at the campaign to see if he could deliver for the American people and concluded it was in the best interest to step aside.

Landry said Harris is competent and she was very excited to see her become Vice President and points out that she was also chosen by voters on the Biden-Harris ticket to take over the role of President should something happen.

Lewis says Harris has the experience and proper temperament to unite the party and is a viable candidate against former President Donald Trump. He says the Trump campaign message against Biden’s age and ability to carry out the job no longer works to the GOP’s advantage with Biden out of the race.
