Former Monroe TV children’s show personality Frank Selas will stand trial on child molestation charges on February 5th. That’s the word from his attorney Mike Small. Selas, also known as Mr. Wonder, allegedly raped a child during a 1979 camping trip in Rapides Parish. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

An eight month old baby is dead after the infant’s care giver left the child in a vehicle for 8.5 hours by mistake. Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s spokeswoman Dawn Panepinto says the guardian drove to daycare to pick up the infant, but he wasn’t there, instead he was still in his car seat.

Panepinto says they are turning over the case to the district attorneys office.

With the Louisiana black bear population increasing, the likelihood of bear-versus-human encounters grows. State Department of Wildlife and Fisheries bear expert Maria Davidson says there’s a new website called bear-wise-dot-org, which helps people who have never had to deal with bears before….

A Clinton man police allege killed three and injured one in East Feliciana and East Baton Rouge Parishes is in custody.  Police say 36-year-old Ryan Sharpe shot and killed 66-year-old Carroll Breeden, 62-year-old Thomas Bass and Brad DeFranceshi since July.  He also injured 47-year-old Buck Hornsby last month.  Breeden’s daughter, Marcy Breeden Slotte, says her grieving may never end…

Slotte is upset that living in a rural area in the town of Pride did not protect her family…

Slotte says even though Sharpe is off the streets, she has questions remaining as to why the killings happened…

Officials expect to charge Sharpe with one count of murder in East Baton Rouge Parish and two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder in East Feliciana Parish.

With all the destruction due to numerous fires in California, people can become concerned in Louisiana about the threat for wildfires.  State Fire Marshal Butch Browning says the northern part of the state is somewhat drier…

Browning says most of Louisiana is usually under a moderate danger for wildfires most of the time.  He warns if you have to burn, do so only if necessary…

Browning says the Department of Agriculture does a good job in monitoring areas where wild underbrush could cause dangerous fires…

As black bears have made a big comeback in the Bayou State, the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries encourages Louisianans to visit bearwise.org. Black bear expert for LDWF Maria Davidson says there is now more interaction between black bears and the public.

Investigators are seeking answers in the death of an eight-month-old child left in a car for several hours.  Tangipahoa Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Dawn Panepinto says the child’s guardian never dropped off the child to a day care center and when they returned to the daycare to pick up the toddler, it was discovered the infant was still in the vehicle…

Panepinto says the District Attorney’s office is continuing their investigation into the tragedy and the guardian is cooperating with police …

Tonight, UL Lafayette takes the field as they host Texas State in a Sun Belt matchup on ESPN-U. The Cajuns are a two touchdown favorite and UL Lafayette has won the previous meetings with the Bobcats in recent years rather easily. Kick-off from Cajun Field is at 6:30.

Saints Head Coach Sean Payton calls the trade of running back Adrian Peterson to Arizona a “win-win” situation. Payton says it gives Peterson more opportunities to carry the ball and the Saints still have enough depth at running back to get through the season….

The state department of transportation has received 61-million dollars from the federal government that will go towards bridge repair, improving the surface of roads and alleviating congestion in some areas. State Transportation Secretary Shawn Wilson says the money will be put to good use….

The ten students who were arrested in connection with the death of LSU fraternity pledge Maxwell Gruver have bonded out. All ten have been charged with hazing, while one individual, Matthew Naquin has also been charged with negligent homicide.

Ten current and former LSU students were booked on charges today in connection with the suspected hazing death of 18-year-old Maxwell Gruver. All of the individuals are facing a misdeamnor hazing charge and one of them, 18-year-old Matthew Naquin of Texas, also faces a negligent homicide charge.

Injuries along the line, forced the coaching staff to shuffle players in and out against Florida. Quarterback Danny Elting says it wasn’t that big of a distraction….

One of suspects, 19-year-old Matthew Alexander Naquin of Texas, also faces a negligent homicide charge and Loyola University Law Professor Dane Ciolino says if found guilty of negligent homicide, he could be behind bars for some time…

CenturyLink’s next chief executive tells the USA Today Network he will not live in Louisiana, but plans to keep the company’s headquarters in Monroe for now. Jeff Storey takes over as the leader of the Fortune 500 telecommunications company in 2019.
