Employment numbers released by the Louisiana Workforce Commission find the state has added nearly 15-thousand non-farm jobs over the last last year. And the state’s unemployment rate has dropped slightly to five-point-one percent. The leisure and hospitality sector continues to gain jobs.

A federal lawsuit has been filed to stop the removal of a Confederate monument at the Caddo Parish Courthouse. The legal action comes after the Caddo Parish Commission voted to remove the statue from where it currently stands. Commissioner Louis Johnson voted for the monument’s removal and he says he can’t control what the courts will do…

The lawsuit was filed by the Shreveport Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, which owns the monument and they claim the statute is on private property.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s office announces the arrest of 46-year-old David Foreman of Prairieville. He’s accused of killing 61-year-old Byron Hayes and leaving a 70-year-old man in critical condition as a result of a shooting at a home on Tillotson Road. Chief Deputy Bobby Webre says the case is still under investigation….

Eight people were arrested in Acadiana on multiple charges of Medicaid welfare fraud. Attorney General Jeff Landry says there is a tremendous amount of abuse in Louisiana and his office will continue to fight to root out welfare fraud. He says Louisiana spends 14 billion dollars a year under the Medicaid expansion.

It was a violent night in Baton Rouge. Police say a 56-year-old woman was fatally shot when a black male suspect walked up to a vehicle stopped at an intersection and fired his weapon. The gunman fled. And a teenager, possibly wearing his school uniform, was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds in a park. In Monroe, police are investigating a fatal hit and run on Ruffin Drive.

Dozens of Caldwell Parish residents continue to recover from a Salmonella outbreak that’s been connected to the serving of jambalya at a fundraiser event on Monday in Columbia. President Donald Trump is promising massive tax cuts for the American people.

The US Coast Guard reports 672-thousand gallons of oil has been dumped into the Gulf of Mexico from a damaged pipeline about 40 miles south of Venice. That’s nearly twice as much as the original estimate last Friday. The Coast Guard says the oil is drifting away from the coast, but none of its recoverable at the surface, because of the depth of the leak and the high pressure at which the oil was released.

LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans Doctor Paul Harch says he’s seen positive impacts by using hyperbaric oxygen therapy on soldiers and military vets with mild traumatic brain injuies. Harch says the therapy in many cases has eliminated suicidal thoughts and greatly reduced PTSD symptoms. Harch says he’s also treated football players and presented his findings to the NFL….

The LSU Tigers leave for north Mississippi today as they get ready for Saturday’s SEC West contest against Ole Miss. The Bayou Bengals should be able to establish their running game against the Rebels. Ole Miss is allowing 239 yards on the ground a game. And Head Coach Ed Orgeron says Derrius Guice is the healthiest he’s been all season. Guice has rushed for over 100 yards just once this season and that was against Chattanooga.

It was a rough night for the Ragin Cajuns last night as Arkansas State steam rolled UL Lafayette 47-3. A-S-U Quarterback Justice Hansen threw for 275 yards and ran for another 121 yards and accounted for three touchdowns in the first half. UL Lafayette’s Jordan Davis threw for just 128 yards.

Louisiana Tech looks to improve to 2-1 in Conference USA Play as the Bulldogs host Southern Miss for a 6 PM kick-off at Joe Aillet Stadium.

The Saints take a three-game winning streak into Lambeau Field this Sunday to face the Green Bay Packers, who will be without two-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. Third-year pro Brett Hundley gets the start at QB for the injured Rodgers. The Louisiana Department of Health believes jambalaya contaminated with salmonella resulted in 49 cases of gastrointestinal illnes in Caldwell Parish. Thirty-one people have been hospitalized. Doctor David Holcombe, with the state office of public health, says one person who showed symptoms associated with Salmonella poisioning died, but it’s still unclear if that is the cause of his death…

Organized Greek activities at LSU are not allowed to have alcohol at their functions until at least January. That’s the decision of LSU President F King Alexander, who last week decided to allow Greek organiziations to have on-campus social events with alcohol. But after receiving cornerning reports, he’s reversed that decision.

NOAA’s long-range outlook calls for a warmer and drier winter for Louisiana. State Climatologist Barry Keim says it’s been warm and dry for much of October, so it looks like that trend will continue…

Another cold front is approaching Louisiana and there’s a good chance for rain this weekend and high temperatures will fall into the 70s on Monday.

Dr. Craig Greene will be sworn in next week as the Public Service Commissioner who will represent the Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Houma areas. Greene, who has never held political office before, explained why he ran for the position.

Doctor David Holcombe with the state office of public health says they have 49 people who have been diagnosed with gastrointenstinal illness and 31 were hospitalized. Holcombe says over 300 plates of jambalya were served so more cases may develop, but he says salmonella is difficult to spread from person to person….

An alcohol ban has been placed back on LSU fraternities and sororities. That decision comes from university president F King Alexander who says he’s learned many Greek organiziations have not taken it serious enough the restrictions that were placed on them in the wake of the death of a Phi Delta Theta who died in a suspected hazing incident.

NOAA’s outlook for the upcoming winter calls for drier and warmer conditions across Louisiana. So does this mean we’ll avoid below freezing temperatures this winter. State Climatologist Barry Keim says have your winter clothes ready….

Pineville Police have made an arrest in the stabbing death of 42-year-old Latish White, who was found early Wednesday morning near the Pineville Expressway. 29-year-old Matthew Sonnier of Pineville was taken into custody around midnight in Alexandria. Pineville Deputy Police Chief Darrell Basco says Sonnier was a known acquaintance of White and the two were together at the time of her death…
