The LSU Tigers welcome 10th ranked Auburn into Death Valley on Saturday afternoon. Auburn is one of the top scoring teams in the SEC, averaging 36 points a contest. Three starters were not at practice for the Tigers yesterday. Left tackle K-J Malone, right tackle Toby Weathersby and defensive end Rashard Lawrence. They are considered questionable for Saturday’s game.

The Ragin Cajuns host Texas State tomorrow and Coach Mark Hudspeth says Andre Nunez will start at quarterback. Nunez has come off the bench the last two games and provided UL-Lafayette’s offense with a spark. Last Saturday, he threw for 213 yards and one touchdown in a win over Idaho.

The NFL Owners will meet next week to discuss a National Anthem policy. Commissioner Roger Goodell sent a memo to all 32 teams that said it’s time for the league to move past this controversy and he believes that players should stand during the national anthem. NFL analyst Mike Detillier says Goodell remained silent too long on this issue…

The NFL owners meetings will be next Tuesday and Wednesday in New York City.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter says the Saints will sign linebacker Gerald Hodges, who started 12 games for the 49ers last season. Hodges was released by the Bills in September. New Orleans needs depth at the linebacker position, because starting weakside linebacker Alex Anzalone had surgery on his shoulder.

As a result of criminal justice reform measures passed in the last legislative session, 14-hundred inmates in Louisiana will be released early from prison in November. Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator said last week that some extremely dangerous criminals could be back on our streets. But Criminal Justice Reform Field Director for the Southern Poverty Law Center John Burkhardt says that isn’t true.

Burkhardt says no one convicted of sex crimes, manslaughter or murder will be released early as a result of the legislation approved earlier this year. He says the new sentencing laws accelerate the release mechanism for inmates on good time parole.

Sheriff Prator also said Louisiana needs to take its time before opening the flood gates and letting inmates out that should not be released. But Burkhardt says safety checks are performed before each individual is released to ensure there are no consecutive sentences requiring an inmate to remain in custody.

High school students from across the state will be designing the new Louisiana Seafood logo.  The Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board has partnered with the Louisiana Department of Education to let students design the new logo.  Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser says it’s a good way for students to use the creative skills they have learned…

Nungesser says he’s been urged by the public to spice up the logo to make people really want the seafood from this area…

The father for wounded East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Deputy Nick Tullier says his son is making remarkable progress.  Tullier was seriously injured during a police ambush in Baton Rouge in July 2016.   James Tullier says his son has been moved from a rehab facility in Houston to the Transitional Learning Center in Galveston, Texas, marking an important point in his recovery…

Two other officers were injured and three more killed when 29-year-old Gavin Long of Missouri began shooting at officers on Airline Highway.  Long was killed at the scene.

Alexandria Police arrested an employee at Rapides Regional Medical Center for allegedly raping a patient who is suffering from dementia. It’s been reported another employee caught 27-year-old Juantavies White of Alexandria in the act. White has been charged with first-degree rape.

Champion Home Builders will invest $1.3 million to build manufactured homes in the Vernon Parish town of Leesville. Mayor Rick Allen says the facility will be located in Leesville’s Northside Industrial Park, which has been vacant and added unnecessary costs on the town for 17 years:

The East Felciana Sheriff’s Office has called in the FBI after another fatal rural shooting. The latest victim is a well known member of the boy scouts, 48-year-old Brad DeFrancheschi. Two other middle aged white men have been killed since July in a similar, drive by shooting manner. East Feliciana Chief Criminal Deputy Greg Phares says they know locals are concerned:

The Saints have traded veteran running back Adrian Peterson to the Arizona Cardinals for an undisclosed draft pick in 2018. The 32-year-old Peterson had trouble getting carries with the Black and Gold and had just 81 yards on the ground during the first four games of the season. Arizona has been looking for a running back ever since David Johnson hurt his wrist in the season opener. NFL Analyst Mike Detellier says it looks like a good deal for both teams…

The report shows the President’s approval rating was 59-percent and now it’s down to 57-percent. Lafayette Police Corporal Karl Ratcliff says the silicone traveled throughout Guillory’s body…

Flying Tiger Co-owner Robert Brewer says they want to help ULM because the school doesn’t get the credit it deserves, aside from academics.

War Hawk beer is not officially licensed through ULM. Brewer says they got the idea a year and a half ago to help students further their education and it’s finally come to fruition.

Future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson is no longer a Saint. New Orleans has traded the veteran to Arizona for a conditional draft pick. Peterson had trouble fitting in with the Saints as he only ran the ball 27 times for 81 yards, while the Cardinals have been looking for a running back since losing David Johnson to a wrist injury in the season opener.

LSU linebacker Devin White was named co-SEC Defensive Player of the Week after recording 13 tackles in the road win against Florida. White batted down a pass on fourth and three to preserve the victory. The Springhill native says he was reading the Florida quarterback’s eyes…

McNeese State is ranked 21st as the Cowboys are 5-1 and the Pokes are also off this Saturday. Nicholls State is ranked 23rd and the 4-and-2 Colonels will host Abilene Christian at 3 PM on Saturday.

In the new Louisiana Sports Writers Association Prep Football Polls….Warren Easton is the new number one ranked team in Class 4A, followed by Benton, Karr, Plaquemine and St. Thomas More.

The Houston Astros are in a league championship series for the first time since 2005. Former LSU Tiger Alex Bregman hit a home run off lefty Chris Sale yesterday as Houston eliminated Boston 5-4. The Stros will play either the Yankees or Indians in the A-L-C-S.

Many are remembering Legendary LSU and NFL Quarterback Y-A Tittle, who passed away at the age of 90. Tittle played in one of the strangest bowl games, the 1947 Cotton Bowl which L-S-U and Arkansas played to a scoreless tie in a winter storm.
