Vice President Mike Pence returns to Louisiana today to hold a closed-door fundraiser for Eddie Rispone in Baton Rouge.

Tickets are 5,000 dollars per couple for general access. Political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says it’s likely the money won’t be headed directly into the Rispone campaign.

It’ll cost you 15,000 dollars per couple to get the VIP treatment.

It’s a boon for the Baton Rouge businessman who’s poured over 11 million dollars of his own funds into the campaign but appears to have stopped self-funding. Pinsonat says he likely won’t need to anymore.

An Accountemps survey shows nine in ten workers admit to coming into work with cold or flu-like symptoms, and a third of workers admit to always going into work when sick. Senior Recruiting Manager for Robert Half in New Orleans, Carrie Lewis, says bosses should set the expectation that sick workers can stay home…

54 percent of those who admit they’ve rolled into work with a cold or the flu say it’s because they have too much work to do, another 40 percent admit to not wanting to use up sick leave.

Lewis says only about 27 percent of workers 40 and older admit to always coming into work when sick, versus 39 percent of workers aged 25 to 40.

It’s 2019, so Lewis says not all jobs have to be done at the office. If you’re contagious but still capable of working, see if you can do it from home.

Edward Avery Mcllhenny, the son of Tabasco founder Edmund Mcllhenny, agreed to donate the land to the state in exchange for a promise that it would be used for research purposes. The deal led to research breakthroughs in the 50s, 60s and, 70s that helped out gators worldwide.

LSU is the new number one college football team in the country after a hard fought 23-20 win over Auburn. The Tigers have won a lot of games on pure execution this season, but LSU used grit on Saturday to beat Auburn for a third straight season. A Pineville man has been arrested and charged with 250 counts of online impersonation after allegedly posing as a woman on social media sites to solicit sexually explicit photos from women. 46-year-old Kevin Miles was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. State Police Master Trooper Scott Moreau says it’s illegal to use another person’s identity online, which is the basis for Miles’ charges.

Moreau says Miles used the fake social media account for over 10 years.

Authorities continue to investigate a fatal police shooting in Bossier City. 45-year-old Shannon Rupert of Shreveport died from her wounds. Bossier City police encountered Ruper Friday morning as they responded to a complaint of a disorderly person at LaQuinta Inn.

Former ULM President Dwight Vines has passed away at the age of 87. He served as the school’s president from 1976 to 1991.

State Police Master Trooper Scott Moreau says it’s a highly unusual case, and he knows people have a lot of questions, but they have to remain tight-lipped.

Investigators say 46-year-old Kevin Miles used the fake social media account for over a decade.

The man behind the wheel of a Dodge pickup truck that slammed into another vehicle in August, killing two people, including a two-year-old girl in St. Landry Parish, is now charged with two counts of negligent homicide. Trooper Thomas Gossen says 48-year-old Michael Shane Guidry of Carencro was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

35-year-old Lacy Leger of Sunset and her two-year-old daughter were traveling along the I-49 service road when the wreck happened, killing both of them.

It’s been 20 years since Auburn defeated LSU in Baton Rouge. That was before Nick Saban arrived as the Tigers head coach. For Auburn to pull off the upset today, its defensive line will need to be disruptive and they’ll have to hope they can run the football against LSU. The War Eagles are averaging 240 yards rushing per game. Kick-off is at 2:30.

It’s another Top 10 matchup for the 2nd ranked LSU Tigers as the Bayou Bengals host ninth-ranked Auburn at 2:30 today. Today will be a big test for the Tigers offensive line. Coach Ed Orgeron says his guys will have to win one-on-one matchups…

The Tigers are 10.5 point favorites.

Louisiana Tech is a big 20.5 favorite on the road today against UTEP. The Bulldogs are 6-and-1 and 3-and-0 in Conference USA. The Miners have lost five straight and none of those games were close.

Tulane is a slight underdog on the road at Navy. The Green Wave have not won in Annapolis since 2001.

16th ranked Nicholls enters today tied for first place in the Southland Conference with Sam Houston, Incarnate World and Central Arkansas. All of those teams have one loss in conference. The Colonels host Abilene Christian for homecoming.

McNeese brings a two-game winning streak on the road to Stephen F Austin. The Cowboys have lost nine straight on the road. Winless Northwestern State is at 20th ranked Incarnate World. The Cardinals have won four straight since losing its Southland opener to Sam Houston. And Southeastern comes off a bye week to face Houston Baptist at 2 PM.

And Grambling is also coming off a bye week and the Tigers are on the road at Arkansas Pine Bluff. Southern is at Alcorn State. The Jags have lost eight of their last nine games in Lorman, Mississippi.

Coach Sean Payton will not say who will start at quarterback Sunday when the Saints host Arizona. Drew Brees and running back Alvin Kamara are both questionable.

And the Pelicans fall to 0-2 on the season as Dallas downed New Orleans 123 to 115, despite 25 points from Brandon Ingram.

Auburn will start a true freshman at quarterback in Bo Nix, but they will also rely on a rushing attack that leads the SEC. Tonight is the home opener for the Pelicans, who will host the Dallas Mavericks at 7 PM in the Smoothie King Center. The Mavs won their season opener over Washington, while the Pels lost in overtime to Toronto.

In last Sunday’s win over the Bears, the Saints made sure pass rusher Khalil Mack didn’t sack Teddy Bridgewater. New Orleans faces another good pass rusher Sunday as Arizona linebacker Chandler Jones has 8.5 sacks. Coach Sean Payton says veteran sack artist Terrell Suggs is also having a good season.

Kennedy says there should be a House vote, before a formal impeachment inquiry takes place into the alleged quid pro quo with Ukraine. Kennedy says the incident boils down to one of two possibilities. One, did the President ask for the investigation of a political rival…

A flash flood watch is in effect until tomorrow afternoon for much of south Louisiana and Mississippi River Delta parishes. State Climatologist Barry Keim says there is a cold front moving in from the north, interacting with a front draped along the coastline.

The resolution calls on the House to follow precedent to have a vote to initiate a formal impeachment inquiry and provide the President with due process and allow Republicans to participate fully in impeachment proceedings.

Louisiana residents who have insurance through the Affordable Care Act will see their premiums go up an average of 10-percent in 2020. But Frank Opelka with the Louisiana Department of Insurance says most individual health care market policyholders will not have to pay for the rate increases, because their premiums are subsidized by the feds.
