LSU filed a motion to dismiss the SEC’s lawsuit against the university, saying that the SEC is in no imminent harm after fifth-year players were not rostered. The SEC filed its initial complaint earlier in September, saying that LSU created a “competitive imbalance” and violated the conference’s First Amendment rights by attempting to sign players who declared for the NFL Draft. Attorney General Liz Murrill also issued a statement calling the lawsuit “improper and moot.” The conference said it is preparing its response in court.
We’re now in the last weekend of September, and we still have had zero hurricanes in the Atlantic all year long. There are currently two tropical storms churning in the Atlantic, both closer to Africa than North America, and neither is expected to strengthen into hurricanes. LSU Health Climatologist Barry Keim says we have never gone this late in the year without a hurricane in the Atlantic in the satellite area, but hurricanes can form at any time of the year, not just June through November.
