The attorneys representing former NFL players Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavien Harris plan to fight the SEC’s new rule banning schools from signing former pro players. The SEC approved the ban after a Baton Rouge judge granted 33 athletes a temporary restraining order against the NCAA to return for a fifth season. Attorney Tony Clayton says that ruling also prohibits the SEC from punishing schools and players.
The Louisiana legislature commits one-million dollars to the Board of Regents to help in its effort to address food insecurity on college campuses. Higher Education Commissioner Kim Hunter Reed says half will go towards addressing barriers to food access.

A seafood consulting firm says more than one out of every four restaurants in the Baton Rouge area are misrepresenting the origins of their shrimp. SeaD Consulting recently did an audit on behalf of the Southern Shrimp Alliance, and it found that 27-percent of restaurants told diners their shrimp was American wild-caught, when genetic testing found that it was actually imported.
