SEC presidents are no longer slated to vote on expelling LSU from the conference at their meeting today. The legal fight between LSU and the SEC is nearing an end after the Tigers chose not to roster former NFL signees, Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, but Tiger Rag Editor Glenn Guilbeau says the fact that SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey threatened to kick LSU out of the conference still doesn’t look good.

The Saints kick off the season at Detroit on Sunday. Running backs Alvin Kamara and Kendre Miller returned to practice yesterday. Kamara was limited with an MCL sprain he suffered three weeks ago, but quarterback Tyler Shough says he’s as explosive as ever.

UL Lafayette is traveling to 14th-ranked USC this weekend. The Cajuns kicked off the season with a 38-7 win over Lamar. Junior quarterback Lunch Winfield was 16-for-22 for 189 yards and two interceptions but added 84 yards and two scores on the ground. Head coach Michael Desormeaux does not blame Winfield for the interceptions and says he was pleased with his 73-percent completion rate and smart decision-making.

Former LSU national champion pitcher Kade Anderson earned his first Major League win yesterday. He allowed one earned run and six hits and struck out five batters in the six innings during the Mariners’ 3-2 win over the Rangers. He is now 1-and-1 through four starts with a 4.29 ERA and 16 total strikeouts.`
