Former Iberia Parish Sheriff and state representative Errol Romero passed away at the age of 89 this morning. Romero served as Sheriff for 17 years and spent 40 years total as a public servant, also serving as a police jury member, state legislator and parish president.

LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt was listed as doubtful to play against Ole Miss this weekend on the initial SEC availability report released last night. The designation comes as a shock after he showed no signs of injury against LA Tech, but Tiger Rag Editor Glenn Guilbeau says Lane Kiffin has a history of gamesmanship.

SEC rules subject teams to fines and other accountability measures for providing misleading information on the availability reports.

The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission is crediting record-high seat belt use for a record-low number of crash injuries in 2025. LSU data shows 54-thousand people were injured in motor vehicle crashes last year — the lowest number since the state began keeping detailed records. Highway Safety Commission spokesperson Greg Fischer says seat belt use also reached a record high of 88 percent.
