The Full Senate today is expected to vote on the new congressional map it advanced out of committee early Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the legislature has sent to the Governor’s desk a bill that sets new election dates for the six US House races, and temporarily move them back to open primaries. House Governmental Affairs Chairman Beau Beaullieu was asked why this year’s U.S. House races can’t be closed primaries…:

He says the 2026 House races will be an open primary in November, with a December runoff.

The Louisiana National Guard says about 125 of its soldiers have been sent to support security missions in Washington, D.C. as part of President Trump’s crackdown on crime in the nation’s capital. The President declared a crime emergency in D.C. 9 months ago which triggers such National Guard troop deployments.

AAA says today’s statewide average for a gallon of regular gas stands at $4 which is down 2 cents from the prior week but still 75 cents higher than the same time last month.
