The first group of juvenile inmates from the Bridge City Center for Youth in Jefferson Parish has been moved to Angola state prison. A bus carrying around ten juveniles was seen on the interstate before 6 this morning. More inmates will be moved in and kept in facilities separate from the adult population.

Experts say we’ve entered a new era in political ads, thanks to an ad running in the Shreveport mayor’s race…and it may have implications far beyond one part of the state. Marsanne Golsby has more.

A new political TV ad in the Shreveport mayoral race uses Deep Fake technology to place the incumbent in the principal’s office; getting a failing grade. The person in the ads looks like Mayor Adrian Perkins and sounds like him, but is NOT him. “LAPolitics.com” publisher Jeremy Alford says it was paid for by an anti-Perkins political action committee…:

He expects to see more such Deep Fake politicals as statewide races for 2023 heat up.

Expect a freeze tonight in north Louisiana. It’s happened this early in the season before; in 1948 and agin in 1989. State Climatologist Barry Keim says warmer weather will follow closely behind though…:

The state legislative panel looking at medical marijuana laws met this morning. The committee discussed employee protections for those who use medical marijuana, as well as potential ways drug testing policies could impact workers. The group is talking over ways to fine tune state laws to make them work best for all involved.

As for gas prices for the holiday travel season, because surveys indicate more people plan to cut back on their travel budget, Redman says budget from $3 to $3.25 a gallon for gas through New Years.

But so-called deep fake technology was used to create a character that looks just like Perkins. “LAPolitics.com” publisher Jeremy Alford believes this is the first time that such technology has been used in a political ad in Louisiana…but it won’t be the last…:

He says the state of Georgia collects $800 thousand annually from licenses and penalties and Louisiana should do the same.

President of the Louisiana Humane Society Jeff Dorson says animal shelters are overcrowded and the state has one of the lowest spay and neuter rates in the country. And he says unregulated breeders only compound the issue with pets that have health issues being abandoned due to unregulated breeding.

The coldest night in many months will take place tonight as low temperatures will get below freezing for much of the state and upper 30s for south Louisiana.
