There are now two people under arrest in a shooting that injured 11 people at a frat house near Southern University early Friday morning, but Baton Rouge Police say they are still looking for the shooter or shooters. It’s Homecoming week at Southern and there have been several parties, but the University issued a statement after the shooting saying this gathering was not a school sponsored event and it did not happen on campus.

The Lafayette Police Department has a new chief who becomes the first female to ever hold the position. Mayor-President Josh Guillory announced Friday Captain Judith Estorge, who has worked at the Lafayette Police Department since 1993, brings all of the qualities necessary to lead the LPD as their next Chief.

The Department of Children and Family Services plans to hire 50 nurses to make home visits to infants who were exposed to substance abuse by their mothers while pregnant. DCFS Secretary Marketa Garner Walters says five years ago the department was ordered to come into compliance with follow-up visits for those infants.

Loyola University Law Professor Dane Ciolino says when the state law passed the law it specifically addressed that non-unanimous verdicts would not be retroactive, but lawmakers are free to change that law.

Police with the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe make an arrest in the death of 17-year-old Giah Berrere, whose body was found at the paragon Casino Resort October 3^rd. 21-year-old Alexis Dauzat, of Marksville, has been charged with “failure to seek assistance.” Barrerre’s cause of death has not been made public, but we know she was not a victim of violence and did have problems with substance abuse.

One student who was there tells LRN it was great party, but suddenly gunshots rang out and the crowd ran for cover. Nine victims sustained non-fatal injuries.

New Orleans Police say two juveniles were shot – one fatally – while they were burglarizing a car during the late night hours. A 15-year-old boy was killed and 14-year-old is in the hospital. Police are seeking the persons who pulled the trigger, who fled the scene.

Two men are under arrest in Lincoln Parish; accused of indecent behavior with a juvenile and possessing child porn. One of them is a visiting guest professor at Louisiana Tech. Both men awaiting bond.

A Shreveport man is suing gaming giant Caesar’s, claiming the company shortchanged customers during cashouts. Caesar’s owns Horseshoe Casino in Bossier City. Plaintiff Mike Young says this happens consistently as they “round down” slot machine cash payments, and keep the remainder. So far no official comment from Caesar’s.

Police are investigating an overnight shooting at a Southern University frat house. Baton Rouge Police say nine people were shot, but their injuries are not life-threatening. The suspect from Sunday’s violent road rage incident in Ascension Parish is in custody. Sheriff Bobby Webre says the victim 59-year-old Scott Gray, who has stage IV cancer was severely beaten and 37-year-old Bryan Cage of Zachery turned himself in after the incident made headlines.

Cage is charged with second-degree battery and hit and run and Webre says more charges could be added and that another person was in the truck with Cage.

In Lake Charles, Judge Clayton Davis formally sentenced Kevin Daigle to death for the 2015 fatal shooting of Louisiana State Police trooper Steven Vincent. The victim’s brother and Iowa Police Chief Keith Vincent.

The Legislative Auditor’s Office says the state needs to consider higher road usage fees, Gina Brown is a Performance Audit Manager with the Legislative Auditor, she says because gas taxes go towards maintenance in 2021 the state imposed a road usage fee of $110 annually for electric vehicle owners and $60 for a hybrid but she says that’s not enough…:

37-year-old Bryan Cage of Zachary turned himself in Thursday after Sunday’s violent road rage incident put the victim in the hospital. Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre says Cage is charged with second-degree battery and hit and run which is a felony and this was not Cage’s first run-in with the law.
