The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office says a woman is in critical condition at a local hospital after they believe she fell out of the back of a truck her estranged husband was driving. 46-year-old Allen Wray and 48-year-old Sherri Wray were sitting on the back of a tailgate, when the husband told his wife to get in the cab. She refused; he drove off, causing her to fall. She’s in very critical condition.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s office says the 2015 King of Houma’s Krewe of Mardi Gras is under arrest for allegedly violating the sex offender restriction that you can’t wear masks which they believe he did in last year’s parade. Captain Dawn Foret says 34-year-old Glynn Matherne has been a registered sex offender since 2003 and is not allowed to participate in certain Mardi Gras activities…:

Foret says they received a complaint from someone who knew Matherne was a registered sex offender but had still been named King of the Krewe this year. She says they contacted Matherne where it was learned that he also rode in the parade last year and wore a mask…:(No word on whether or not Matherne will remain the king this year.)

The parade is set to roll Saturday night along the traditional route on the east side of Houma. Foret says every year when sex offenders come in to confirm their current address, they sign a document which indicates they know they are not allowed to do certain things like pass out candy for Halloween or ride in Mardi Gras parades and throw beads…:

Medical marijuana has been legal in Louisiana since 1991 for people with certain conditions. But rules for dispensaries were not set, so no prescriptions have been issued. Honore says he’s just trying to carry out the law that was passed 24 years ago. He says his proposed law contains strict regulations on what doctors are allowed to prescribe the drug…

A New Orleans judge today denied a motion to dismiss the petition seeking to have New Orleans Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson declared mentally incapacitated, and said Benson will have to undergo a medical exam. Legal analyst Tim Meche says Tom Benson is learning it’s not going to be easy to disinherit his heirs…:

A bill will once again be taken up by Louisiana lawmakers this legislative session that considers whether or not the use of medical marijuana should be authorized. The measure is by Baton Rouge Representative Dalton Honore the main push back to such a proposal is that it would legalize marijuana for recreational use…:

Monroe Police say an officer has been fired because of racially offensive comments he made on social media about the Ferguson Missouri incident in which a black unarmed teen was shot by a white officer. Officials announced Monday that Officer Doug Lambert, who’s been on leave since November, is no longer with the department after an internal investigation. The Chief said the comments are not at all what the department stands for.

Civil District Court Judge Kern Reese decided the 87-year-old billionaire will have to undergo the evaluation if he wants to get rid of the lawsuit from his former heirs who claim he is mentally incapacitated and is not fit to decide his wife Gayle will get his inheritance including the sports franchises.

They say Clint Woods of Lacombe was found in his truck with the juvenile. He was booked into the parish jail on one count of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

A New Orleans judge ruled this morning that Saints and Pelicans owner Tom Benson must undergo a mental evaluation to determine if he’s mentally fit to make sound business decisions. Analysts say it’s a legal victory for Benson’s relatives, who are trying to prevent Tom Benson’s wife, Gayle Benson, from getting the two professional franchises.

The Fighting Tigers battle the undefeated and top ranked Wildcats tonight at the Maravich Center. Kentucky is 23-0, while LSU is 17-6 and can use a high-profile victory to boost its NCAA Tournament resume. Coach Johnny Jones understands the significance, but it’s not a must-win situation…

Northwestern State’s four game winning streak in men’s basketball ended last night as the Demons lost to Stephen F Austin 93-82. The Lumberjacks shot 53-percent from the field as they have now won 32 straight regular season games. Jalen West had 28 points for the Demons.

Former Alexandria Senior High standout Christavious Gill and Kevin Hill each scored 21 points as U-N-O defeated McNeese State 81-71. The Privateers shot 59-percent from the field in the victory.
