Broussard Police say a motorcyclist was killed in a multi-vehicle accident Monday. They say 51-year-old Anthony Gage of Youngsville was hit from behind by an SUV while waiting to make a left turn. The impact ejected Gage from his motorcycle into oncoming traffic where he was run over by a passing pickup truck. Gage was pronounced dead at the scene. The SUV driver, 30-year-old Megan Malespin of Lafayette, was cited for reckless operation and driving under suspension.

The low cost of oil has lead to the shuttering of a facility in Terrebonne Parish. Baker Hughes is closing its electric cabling plant in Houma. The closure will result in 60 employees losing their jobs. In a released statement, Baker Hughes says the company needs to reduce its cost structure company-wide in order to remain competitive.

Sabine Parish Warden Joe Dewil says they are being assisted in the investigation by the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s office and the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s office…

The Pelicans had a 14-point lead in the third quarter, but it wasn’t enough as they fell to the Utah Jazz last night 100-96. Eric Gordon scored 31 and Tyreke Evans added 18 as the Pels were without Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson who missed the game due to injury.

Last night in Southland Conference basketball action, Stephen F. Austin blew past Northwestern St. 93-82. The Demons’ Jalen West lead all scorers with 28 as his team falls to 7-4 in league play. The Lumberjacks remain unbeaten in the Southland.

And UNO defeated McNeese State 81-71. Kevin Hill and Christavious Gill each had 21 to lead the Privateers, while the Cowboys were lead by Desharick Guidry and Keelan Garrett who each scored 20. Both teams now have a 3-8 conference record.

In the SWAC, Southern fell to Jackson State 62-52. The Jaguars were lead by Adrian Rodgers 15 points. The Jags fall to 8-3 in the league, two games behind conference leader Alabama State.

And Grambling remains winless in the conference after their 91-77 loss to Alcorn State. The Tigers were lead by A’Torri Shine’s 23 points. Grambling will next try for their first league win Saturday when they host Texas Southern.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s office says they are investigating KKK fliers that are being left in some neighborhoods in the area. Lt. Tommy Carnline says the fliers have a picture of a hooded man on them and say “You can sleep well tonight knowing the Klan is awake”…:

Carnline says even though the flier doesn’t contain any threats, they are asking the FBI to investigate because the literature is ending up in the driveways of minorities which could be considered a hate crime.

A 16-year-old is in jail and another dead after a shooting in Sabine Parish. Authorities say the teen suspect is charged with second degree murder for allegedly fatally shooting the victim in the head once. The motive is under investigation but cops believe the two had been arguing at the apartment complex outside of Many.

Kenner Police say a Mississippi woman is under arrest for allegedly driving drunk then backing into the police car that pulled her over two times. Lt. Brian McGregor…:

Governor Bobby Jindal stole a line from the late comedian Richard Pryor when he was asked about a portrait that shows him with a different skin tone. The picture went viral on social media last week. When asked about it in Washington D.C. Jindal said “You mean I’m not white,” which Pryor said in the movie See No Evil, Hear No Evil. ULM and Louisiana Tech are in first place in their respective conferences. The Bulldogs host Florida Atlantic on Thursday, while the Warhawks host the Ragin Cajuns.

The LSU Tigers are seeking a new wide receiver coach. Adam Henry has left the Tigers program as he’s been hired to the San Francisco 49ers staff. Henry has been with LSU the last three seasons and helped develop Odell Beckham and Jarvis Landry into NFL stars.

Louisiana Tech has reportedly hired Karl Scott as its new safeties coach. Scott served as Southeastern Louisiana’s defensive coordinator last season.
