That’s Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi, who says 30 year-old Keavin Keith was arrested Monday on 30 counts of prohibited sex with a student.

State Police say a fire at their data center has left Office of Motor Vehicles offices across the state unable process any transactions. Major Doug Cain says an electrical panel fire has disabled all automated systems at the Department of Public Safety, including OMV locations statewide. That word came down today…

LSU grad and prominent Democratic Party figure, James Carville, appeared on the Jim Engster Show and said he wishes the governor would focus on bigger issues impacting the state.

AAA is saying more people will be on the roads this Memorial Day Weekend than they have in the last 10 years. They say people are feeling more confident about the economy, and the low gas prices are also encouraing them. Spokesman Don Redman says it’s estimated more than 37 million Americans will travel more than 50 miles from home; 33 million of those by car.

The LSU baseball team goes after its ninth straight SEC Tournament victory tonight as they face Arkansas. The Tigers had to rally back from two five-run deficits to beat Auburn nine to eight alst night. Austin Bain will start for LSU tonight, hopefully he’ll have a better outing than last night’s starter. Jared Poche lasted just one inning as he gave up five runs. First pitch is expected around eight P-M.

In the Sun Belt…the Ragin Cajuns staved off elimination with a 12-8 win over Troy. U-L Lafayette scored six times in the second inning. Greg Davis blasted a two-run homer and Stefan Trosclair of Sulphur had a three run shot. They’ll play again tomorrow at 6:30 PM.

In the Southland Tournament…Northwestern State eliminated Nicholls State four to three. The Demons scored all of their runs in the 5th inning. Southeastern Louisiana eliminated McNeese State 3-2 in 12 innings. The Lions scored the go-ahead run on an RBI groundout.

The Saints announce they’ve signed first round pick Andrus Peat to a four-year contract. The offensive tackle was selected with the 13th overall pick out of Stanford. Peat was named a first-team All-American by several news organizations last season.

Louisiana Tech announces changes to its 2016 non conference schedule as they drop Mississippi State and Texas A-and-M and add Texas Tech and UMASS. UMASS will make a return trip to Ruston in 2019. The Bulldogs will round out the 2016 nonconference schedule with an FCS Opponent.

Grambling State has released its 2015 schedule. The Tigers open the season with a game at Cal on September 5th. G-S-U will play four games on campus versus Bethune Cookman, Alabama A-and-M, Mississippi Valley State and Texas Southern.

The Pelicans Anthony Davis has been named to the All-NBA first team. And the Pels have announced that Tyreke Evans has undergone successful arthroscopic sugery on his right knee.

There’s community reaction coming out about the case of a former Iberville Parish teacher of the year at the Math, Science and Arts Academy West in Plaquemine. Sheriff Brett Stassi says thirty year-old Keavin Keith is accused of having sex with at least three victims, and apparently causing a 15 year-old to become pregnant…

Keith was arrested on 30 counts of prohibited sex with a student, and is also charged with two counts of indecent behavior with juveniles and five counts of felony carnal knowledge.

With all of the travel miles Governor Bobby Jindal is logging, state lawmakers in the House voted to have the governor’s office to pay for the State Police Security detail in his out-of-town travel, instead of State Police. For next year’s budget, Jindal would be on the hook for the money, and have make cuts within his own office.

The toxicology report showed high levels of methamphetamine, and Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Maxine Trahan says the case then went to the grand jury…

A fire at the Office of Motor Vehicles data center has shut down all transactions at DMV’s across the state today. State Police say all they can do at this point is turn people away. They are hopeful everything she be up and running shortly, but it may be tomorrow before transactions can resume.

Spokesperson Maxine Trahan says 26-year-old Katie Chriceol (Cry-sol) gave birth to her child at home in late March. The newborn then went into cardiac arrest and died at a local hospital. Trahan says they were then contacted by the hospital…

She says hospital toxicology reports showed that Chriceol and the baby both tested positive for high levels of methamphetamine. Trahan says this case was brought before a grand jury last week… (Trahan says Chriceol was located and arrested in Lafayette Wednesday and booked on a charge of second degree murder.)

Stassi says at lease one other victim told detectives that she engaged in oral sex with Keith inside his classroom at Iberville’s Math, Science and Arts Academy-West in Plaquemine. He says this is an unfortunate case…:

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office announce that a woman wanted for the death of her infant daughter has been arrested in Lafayette. Spokesperson Maxine Trahan says the baby had a heart attack after being born then doctors discovered meth in the toxicology reports. She says the case against the mother, 26-year-old Katie Chriceol (Cry-sol) went before a grand jury last week…:

Trahan says Chriceol was located and arrested in Lafayette Wednesday and booked on a charge of second degree murder.

In Houma cops are searching for a woman they believe spread thumbtacks all over the bed of her ex-boyfriend, then poured boiling water on top of him while he was sleeping. They say 36-year-old Lynette Joseph is wanted for questioning in the crime of aggravated 2nd degree battery. According to a news release, the victim suffered severe burns to his torso, right arm and face and had to be shipped to the burn center in Baton Rouge.

Sheriff Brett Stassi says another victim told detectives that she engaged in oral sex with 30-year-old Keavin Keith inside his classroom. He says this is an unfortunate case:

The number one ranked LSU baseball team overcame a rough start by left-hander pitcher Jared Poche and two five-run deficits to beat Auburn 9 to 8 last night in the SEC Tournament. The Tigers offense put together a six-run fifth to grab a one-run lead, which held for the rest of the game. It’s LSU’s eighth straight SEC Tournament victory and they’ll go at it again tonight against Arkansas.

While LSU had a thrilling victory last night, the Ragin Cajuns suffered a heart breaking loss in the Sun Belt Tournament. UL Lafayette blew a three-run lead in the ninth and lost to Texas State 8-7. There were two big errors that sparked the Bobcat rally. The Cajuns will need to beat Troy today to keep their season alive.

In the Southland….all four teams from Louisiana are in the losers bracket, including top-seeded Southeastern Louisiana. Tulane topped UCONN three to one in the American Athletic Conference yesterday and the Green Wave will face East Carolina at 6 PM tonight.

New Orleans has been invited by the NFL to bid to host the 2019 and 2020 Super Bowls. Eric Gill reports…

They say the victim suffered severe burns to his torso, right arm and face and had to be taken to a specialist center in Baton Rouge. Cops want 36-year-old Lynette Joseph for questioning in the incident.

It’s another big day at the Capitol for the House. Today’s debate is about next year’s $24.4 billion dollar budget proposal and a package of bills are currently being discussed.

The Saints announce that New Orleans has been invited by the NFL to bid on the the 2019 and 2020 Super Bowls as a host site. Eric Gill reports…:
