Congressman John Fleming’s office says the EPA has decided to move forward with plans to dispose 15-million pounds of M6 propellant at Camp Minden in Webster Parish, despite the agency’s concerns about an additional eight million dollars in oversight costs. Fleming says the EPA has not provided any documentation on why this additional money is needed…

State Police say an officer involved shooting in Ouachita Parish has left a man suspected of killing his mother injured. When authorities arrived to the scene, they found 32-year-old John Henderson of Monroe brandishing an axe. Henderson approached the officers in an aggressive manner and, after not complying with the cops commands, was shot in the lower torso. He was treated at a local hospital. Charges against Henderson are pending.

Officials say a bullet is lodged near the agent’s spine.

State Police say an Oak Grove man is dead after the tractor he was driving was struck by a truck. They say 74-year-old Jimmy Turner attempted to make a left turn while the truck was trying to pass his tractor. The impact forced the tractor off the road where it struck a tree. Turner was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi says DNA has confirmed that a 30-year-old teacher in Plaquemine fathered a 15-year-old student’s child. Keavin Keith was arrested earlier this week, after he was accused of having a sexual relationship with three students. The Coast Guard is called out in response to an oil platform fire near Breton Island early Friday. The well was shut and production was stopped, and there were no reported injuries. All 28 people aboard were evacuated to Venice. Coast Guard officials did observe a rainbow sheen near the platform over a mile long. That fire is still burning.
