Golden Meadow Police say a Galliano woman is under arrest accused of stealing money from a children’s baseball league. 35-year-old Renee Serigny allegedly took more than $12,000 from the checking account of Golden Meadow’s Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken leagues. Authorities say Serigny admitted to taking the money and using it for personal matters. Serigny is charged with two counts of felony theft.

A Plaquemines Parish grand jury has indicted a Navy Reserve seaman and his wife in the March death of their three-and-a-half-month old daughter at the air station in Belle Chasse. Xavier Houston and his wife, Calendria, both 26, were arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the case. The couple also face cruelty to juvenile charges for allegedly abusing their remaining five children.

The Tigers bring a 50-and-12 record into Oklahoma City. They have seven hitters hitting .324 or higher and they have four pitchers who have combined for a team ERA of 1.76. Head Coach Beth Torina says the depth on her team has served them well…

The Pelican’s search for a head coach continues. League sources say the team interviewed Jeff Van Gundy earlier this week. Van Gundy is an eleven year veteran head coach, most recently coaching the Houston Rockets in 2007. Van Gundy’s teams made the playoffs in nine of his eleven seasons.

Matt McMahon is heading to Ruston after spending the previous four seasons as an assistant at Murray State, who won 25 straight games last season on their way to an Ohio Valley Conference regular season championship. McMahon joins former George Mason star Tony Skinn as an assistant on Konkol’s staff.

The Senate approved medical marijuana legislation received a green light from a House Committee Wednesday. The bill would allow pot to be dispensed in Louisiana to patients with certain ailments. Louisiana Sheriff’s Association executive director, Michael Ranatza, says they’ve dropped their opposition after the bill tightened up…:

A bill that would prohibit hospitals from billing rape victims for their medical exams is one step closer to final passage. New Orleans Representative Helena Moreno’s legislation cleared the Senate in a unanimous vote. New Orleans Senator JP Morrell says this bill goes beyond merely paying for victim’s medical exams…:
