Kick-off on Saturday is at 7 PM. ESPN College Gameday is on the Alabama campus for the big game.

McNeese State can clinch a Southland Conference Championship on Saturday night when they host Sam Houston State at 6 PM in Cowboys Stadium. The Cowboys are 7-0 against league opponents, while the Bearkats are 5-and-1 and they rank second in the nation in both total offense and scoring offense. McNeese leads the league in total defense and scoring defense.

Louisiana Tech will host North Texas for homecoming on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs are seeking their ninth straight win at home. The Mean Green spoiled Tech’s homecoming celebration in 2013 as they beat the Bulldogs 28-13.

In the Sun Belt…UL Lafayette is at Georgia State. The Panthers are 2-and-5 on the season, but their quarterback Nick Arbuckle threw for 390 yards and two touchdowns last week in a loss to Arkansas State. The Cajuns are expected to play two quarterbacks on Saturday, Brooks Haack and Jalen Nixon.

ULM, who nearly beat the Cajuns last weekend, is at Troy.

The Saints have a good chance at picking up their fourth win in a row on Sunday when they host Tennessee. The Titans are 1-and-6 and have announced that Marcus Mariota will start against New Orleans. Mariota missed the last two games with a sprained MCL in his left knee.

Louisiana Oil and Gas Association President Don Briggs is not surprised President Barack Obama said no to a proposal to build the Keystone Pipeline. But he says he’s disappointed because it would have been a big asset to energy production efforts in Louisiana…:

The decision ends a seven-year debate over the Canada-to-Texas project that energy advocates said would create thousands of jobs and lower gas prices. Mr. Obama said the pipeline would undercut efforts to fight climate change.

Funeral arrangements have been set for the six-year-old boy who died Tuesday night when City Marshals in Marksville shot at his father’s vehicle following a pursuit. Little Jeremy Mardis will be laid to rest Sunday evening in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. State Police Col Mike Edmonson said Thursday that they still hadn’t been able to speak with the City Marshals involved and the investigation is continuing.

The biggest chunk of mud in Louisiana’s gubernatorial runoff, has been slung. A day before early voting, Democrat John Bel Edwards releases an ad accusing Republican David Vitter of answering a prostitute’s call before skipping a vote honoring soldiers. The spot says Edwards answers America’s call having served as a Ranger in the 82nd Airborne Division.

The Tigers flew out of Baton Rouge today to Alabama in advance of the highly anticipated Tigers Tide game tomorrow night in Tuscaloosa. There are many LSU fans headed to the game but the ones staying home will be packing sports bars. One of the organizers, Liz Broussard, says the event began 31 years ago after a group from Abbeville attended an omelet celebration in France and decided to do their own. She says the celebration started out as a small affair…

The festival kicks off Saturday and includes arts and crafts, live music, an antique car show, egg tossing contests and more, culminating in the serving of the giant omelet Sunday afternoon. Broussard says the omelet will include 5,031 eggs and other delicious ingredients…

Admission to the celebration is free and the 12 foot omelet is served to the public free of charge. Broussard says over the course of 31 years, the Giant Omelette Celebration has gained some notoriety…

They have been designated as a “Well Spot” and D-H-H Assistant Secretary JT Lane says that means they’ve made a conscious effort to help people lead healthier lifestyles.

Lane says Louisiana has such a rich culture and by increasing these “Well Spots” we’re allowing people to live longer to enjoy the beauty of our state. He says for a business to be designated they are proactively banning smoking or providing incentives for healthier behaviors.

Lane says this is a volunteer program with no monetary reward. But he says there is a financial impact because we’re paying for our bad habits today with increased healthcare premiums and treatment for preventable illnesses.

The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is urging Louisiana residents to be prepared for possible severe weather this weekend. The National Weather Service indicates much of the state is under a marginal risk of severe weather as a cold front enters the region. Forecasters are concerned about flooding as this will be at least the third episode of massive rain fall over the last month.

State Police say a Lafayette man died in a two vehicle fatality crash on I-10 in Iberville Parish after slamming into an 18-wheeler that was stalled in a crash. They say 50-year-old Alton Ortega died from his injuries. Invesitgators remind motorists that distracted driving is one of the leading causes of crashes in our state.

The Saints are getting to take on the Tennessee Titans this Sunday. The Titans have struggled offensively, averaging nearly 18 points a game, which ranks 31st out of 32 teams. The Saints offense is coming off a performance where they racked up over 600 yards of total offense. Kick-off on Sunday is at noon.

The March of Dimes finds Louisiana receives an F on the latest report card in the number of premature births. The numbers say the state’s pre-term birth rate was 12.3 percent in in 2014 — much higher than the March of Dimes 2020 goal of 8.1 percent. The premature births were worse in Baton Rouge at 13 percent and Shreveport at 18.8 percent.

Early voting locations will be closed Sunday and again Wednesday, in honor of Veterans’ Day.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office says a traffic stop has led to the arrest of a Bayou Vista man and a Houma woman on drug charges. Authorities say 27-year-old Brian Derouen and 28-year-old Theresa Trahan threw a gun, a bag of marijuana, and more than $7,500 worth of methamphetamine from their vehicle while trying to evade the stop. Drug paraphernalia was also found inside their vehicle. Derouen and Trahan are charged on several counts, including possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.

It looks like another wet weekend for Louisiana as a slow-moving cold front is going to bring a lot of rain across the entire state over the next few days. Mike Marcotte, forecaster with The National Weather Service in Lake Charles, says we’re in one of the strongest El Nino patterns in history and that’s the main reason for the heavy rainfall we’ve seen over the past three weekends…
