The new College Football Playoff rankings came out last night and the Bayou Bengals fell seven spots to the number nine position after last Saturday’s 30-16 loss to Alabama. The Crimson Tide rose to number two this week following top ranked Clemson. Ohio State and Notre Dame round out the top four.

A win this Saturday for Grambling State against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and they’ll clinch the Western Division title in the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

The Ragin Cajuns have a game Thursday night game against South Alabama. Coach Mark Hudspeth says he’s leaning towards starting Brooks Haack at quarterback, but plans to play Jalen Nixon as well. The game starts at 6:30 PM and you can watch on ESPNU.

The rumors of Saints Coach Sean Payton leaving New Orleans are not over. Yahoo Sports reporter Charles Robinson says a source tells him that there’s a 50-50 chance Payton will not return to the Black & Gold for the 2016 season and a lot of the decision depends on the legal battle with Owner Tom Benson and his former heirs.

The Pelicans picked up their first win of the NBA season last night. The Pels scored the first 12 points of the game on their way to a 120-105 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Ryan Anderson led all scorers with 25 followed by four Pelicans who put in 17 points each, including Anthony Davis who left the game at halftime with a bruised hip. The 1-6 Pels head to Atlanta to take on the Hawks tonight.

Republican David Vitter and Democrat John Bel Edwards spent a lot of time attacking each other’s record during an hour long televised debate last night. Edwards made the case that Vitter is a very ineffective senator and says if he’s elected governor, he’ll just continue Governor Bobby Jindal’s failed policies.

Vitter claims Edwards is completely misrepresenting his record, when in fact on many occasions he publicly disagreed with Jindal. He says Edwards hasn’t ever stood up against his party leader, President Barack Obama.

Secretary of State Tom Schedler says he’s seeing more participation during early voting in this election than for the primary. Schedler says typically the general election receives less votes than the primary, but numbers are looking good during this early voting period, even though there will be no voting today because of Veteran’s Day.

Schedler says he thinks voters are much more engaged with the runoff election, possibly because the ballot is smaller.

Legal analyst Tim Meche says even though a US District Judge ruled that Albert Woodfox shouldn’t have to face a third 40 year old trial, the 5th Circuit disagreed. He says trying this case again poses many issues…:

A recent report by the Center for Public Integrity says Louisiana gets an F in a look at states on transparency and accountability. States were graded on things like access to public information, ethics enforcement and government accountability. Overall Louisiana ranked 41st in the CPI State Integrity Investigation.

The US 5th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled Louisiana can keep the final Angola 3 inmate in jail and try him again in the 1972 killing of a prison guard. This would be the third time Albert Woodfox would have to face trial as the other two convictions were thrown out on technicalities. Legal analyst Tim Meche says lawyers of Albert Woodfox and those who believe he is innocent, have been very successful in getting the public and the media on their side…:

The FBI is reportedly assisting in the case of the Marksville officer-involved shooting that killed a 6-year-old and left his father, Chris Few, injured. A judge issued a gag order and the media is being denied requests for public records. It’s also reported that the condition of the father, Few, is now listed as “confidential” — meaning there will be no more updates provided on his condition.
