The family of a 6-year-old autistic boy who was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Avoyelles parish is suing the city of Marksville. Jeremy Mardis was killed by police when officers open fired on his father’s vehicle. The suit reportedly claims city officials improperly trained officers to use deadly force, and alleges that the officers did nothing to alleviate the boy’s suffering.

The Louisiana Secretary of State’s office says over 162-thousand people voted during the first two days of early voting. John Couvillon with JMC Analytics says the turnout thus far has really wowed everyone.

The data shows more women than men have voted so far, and more Democrats have made it to the polls than Republicans.

A study by NOAA finds Americans ate a pound more seafood last year than the previous year. Executive Director of the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board, Karen Profita, says the short supply of shrimp could lead to frustrations among consumers because seafood is becoming more of an everyday meal.

A Market Research Insight poll finds in the U.S. Senate race, Republicans John Kennedy and Charles Boustany are neck and neck within one percent of each other. Pollster Verne Kennedy says Democrat Foster Campbell is at 14-percent and the reason Democrat Caroline Fayard is behind Campbell at 12-percent is because she isn’t getting support from white Democrats.

The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested 61-year-old Tommy Francis of Plaquemine for two cold case murders from 1990 and 2002. Sheriff Brett Stassi says both cases are featured on the Discovery channel show Killing Fields and publicity like this helps witnesses come forward. He says the families of Curtis Smith and George Barrett have been waiting for justice.

The Baton Rouge River Center has been renamed the Raising Cane’s River Center. The Baton Rouge based food chain signed a 10-year naming rights deal worth 4 million dollars. CEO and Founder of the chicken finger company Todd Graves hopes the Raising Cane’s River Center will become an even better entertainment venue.

The cases were the subject of Season 2 of Discovery’s Killing Fields which Stassi says helped in putting this case to bed.

Jefferson Parish District Attorney Paul Connick announced today that a grand jury has returned an indictment for first-degree murder against Joshua Every for the killing of Raising Canes manager Taylor Friloux in Kenner. He said in a news release that his office has decided to seek the death penalty. Friloux died on June 29th after being stabbed multiple times during an armed robbery of the business.

People nationwide have been loading up on seafood, as new stats from NOAA show the average American ate nearly a pound more in 2015 than the prior year. Donald Trump is positioned to win the presidential race in Louisiana, according to a new poll from Southern Media and Opinion Research. Pollster Bernie Pinsonat says Trump still has a strong lead over Hillary Clinton, with only 12 days to go until Election Day.

Pinsonat says 8-percent of voters are still undecided.

Lawmakers will visit offshore oil and gas facilities as part of a two-day tour of Louisiana’s coast that begins today. Houma Representative Jerome Zeringue says the primary purpose of the trip is to help the oil and gas industry coexist with coastal restoration.

A senior football player in Union parish is suing the LHSAA over a rule that does not allow him to play his senior year because he was held back in the sixth grade. The 110^th Louisiana State Fair in Shreveport is now underway. Fair president and general manager Chris Giordano says the fair will only be closed on Mondays this year to accommodate more festival goers.
