In response to an audit’s findings, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Secretary Charlie Melancon says he’s ordered a complete internal review of his agency:

Letters are being sent out today to TOPS recipients in the state to remind them of the changes in the scholarship program next semester. Students will be responsible for paying nearly 60-percent of their tuition come January. This decision was made during the most recent legislative session as a way to help offset the state’s massive budget deficit.

 

Key endorsements were announced today in thestate’s runoff elections. Attorney General Jeff Landry came out to publicly support State Treasurer John Kennedy for U.S. Senate and Congressman John Fleming has endorsed Republican Mike Johnson for the seat he is vacating. Political Analyst Bernie Pinsonat says it’s unlikely any Republican will have trouble raising money for the December 10th election.

A recent statewide poll finds LSU fans are very happy with Tigers interim head coach Ed Orgeron’s performance. The survey was commissioned by LSU Law graduate Parker Layrisson of Ponchatoula who says he’s heard both sides of the discussion.

Layrisson says the poll was conducted before LSU’s win to Arkansas and has heard of more people jumping on the Coach O bandwagon.

Law enforcement is raising awareness about Louisiana’s “move over” law this week during the National Move Over Campaign. Move Over America reports that every state has a move over law, but Louisiana Master Trooper Scott Moreau says ten officers were killed in crashes on the side of state roadways last year. He says drivers should move over for everyone, not just emergency responders…:

The man accused of killing a Raising Cane’s store manager pleaded not guilty today in Jefferson Parish. 24-year-old Joshua Every is charged with first degree murder and armed robbery in connection with the brutal killing of Taylor Friloux at the establishment where she was working in Kenner. Prosecutors plan to seek the death penalty for Every.

The National “Move Over” Campaign is underway this week to remind drivers of the dangers emergency responders face when they are responding to incidents on highways. State Police Master Trooper Scott Moreau says if you see someone working on the shoulder, move over or slow to a reasonable speed. He says enforcement efforts are increased this week:

LSU Law graduate Parker Layrisson of Ponchatoula commissioned a statewide opinion poll and found that 9 out of 10 LSU fans are pleased with Coach O’s performance, and of those, 72% want him to stay on as head coach. Layrisson says they also threw in a question about former Coach Les Miles…:

Louisiana Master Trooper Scott Moreau says the law aims to protect first responders working on the side of the road. He says the law is simple, if you see someone working on the shoulder, move over.

Moreau says a reasonable speed is considered 20 miles per hour under the speed limit, after it was revised a few years ago from 25 miles below the posted limit. He says they will be upping their efforts to enforce this law throughout the week.

The debate about whether or not LSU interim head coach Ed Orgeron should keep the job long term continues to heat up among fans. Orgeron and the Tigers had an easy time winning The Golden Boot Saturday night for the first time in two years, and a recent statewide poll finds LSU fans overwhelmingly like how things are going. The poll was commissioned by LSU Law graduate Parker Layrisson of Ponchatoula…:

The man accused of fatally stabbing a young woman who managed a Raising Cane’s restaurant in Kenner in June, pleaded not guilty Monday. 23-year-old Joshua Every is charged with first-degree murder, as well as armed robbery, false imprisonment with a deadly weapon and witness intimidation in the murder case of 21-year-old Taylor Friloux.

Gas prices have once again dipped below two dollars. Senior Petroleum Analyst with GasBuddy.com, Gregg Laskoski these decreases are the continuation of the significant trend of prices dropping lower than they were a year ago…:

Today is the last day for flood victims to apply for FEMA aid, and a loan through the Small Business Administration. Ray Perez with FEMA says the SBA has already approved $1.15 billion dollars in low interest loans. He says victims are also getting money from National Flood Insurance and even more is expected to be issued…:

He says approximately 152,000 individuals have registered for federal aid, and $723 million has been approved.

Governor John Bel Edwards is asking a court in Baton Rouge to define the role of the Louisiana attorney general. The administration’s request comes in response to AG Jeff Landry’s thus far successful lawsuit seeking to block Edwards’ executive order that bans discrimination against LGBT people in state government. Edwards wants the court to declare the governor is the superior constitutional officer.

Republican Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle is up against fellow GOP contender Capt. Clay Higgins in the runoff for the 3rd Congressional District seat. Higgins says he’s an outsider versus Angelle who has been in politics most of his life…:
