Republican Donald Trump may be leading Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton by a large margin in Louisiana, but a new poll on the Presidential race shows neither candidate is very popular. Bernie Pinsonat with Southern Media and Opinion Research says 53-percent of voters have an unfavorable view of Trump, while 60-percent dislike Clinton…:

The State Fair of Louisiana kicks off today, which annually brings in hundreds of thousands of people to Shreveport every year. That’s according to fair General Manager Chris Giordano who says the fair offers a wide variety of rides, attractions and events — but the food vendors seem to step up the weirdness every year…:

Governor John Bel Edwards and three members of the state Legislature will tour Louisiana’s coast and a variety of offshore oil and gas exploration and production facilities today and tomorrow. Houma Representative John Zeringue says this sector is not only important to this region but the entire country…:

Following the flyover, Edwards and the legislators will participate in an offshore energy industry roundtable in Port Fourchon.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says the average American ate almost a pound more seafood in 2015 than they did the prior year. The statistic shows consumption of seafood grew to 15.5 pounds, up from 14.6 pounds in 2014. NOAA says this is in line with how much fisherman brought in last year — 9.7 billions pounds of fish and shellfish, an increase of 2% from 2014.

Governor John Bel Edwards leaves today on a two day tour where he will fly over the state coast then visit offshore oil and gas facilities. Houma Representative Jerome Zeringue will be one of the lawmakers on board. He says the governor is very adamant that the funding reserved for coastal restoration will be used for that purpose…:

Edwards said in a statement that it’s important that coastal restoration and the offshort energy co-exist because the state’s future depends on it.

State Police say they are investigating an officer involved shooting that took place last night on the campus of Southern University in Baton Rouge. They say only the suspect was short, then he lead authorities on a high speed chase into west Baton Rouge Parish where he was eventually arrested. LSP says the suspect’s injuries are not serious and they are working to determine how this all started.

The two former higher ups at Angola were booked into the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office and released on bond after turning themselves in amid allegations they stole $160,000 in prison funds. They are 45-year-old Shirley Whittington and Deborah Leonard who each fact felony counts of theft.

In the NBA, Pelicans star forward Anthony Davis put up an amazing stat line in the season opener against the Nuggets with 50 points, 16 rebounds, seven steals, five assists and four blocks — but it wasn’t enough for a win as New Orleans fell to Denver 107-102.

The LSU baseball team is off this weekend, and coach Paul Mainieri isn’t going to just be cooling his heels. Mainieri reportedly accepted an invite from the Chicago Cubs to attend World Series Games 3 and 4 this weekend at Wrigley Field.

First-year head coach Matt Viator is going through a tough season at ULM. The Warhawks are 2-and-5 and coming off a 42-point loss to New Mexico. Viator takes the blame for the team’s poor performance on the field this year…:

The 110th Louisiana State Fair in Shreveport kicks off today at 10 a.m. with tons of new and different activities. The fair runs until Sunday November 13th. Fair President and General Manager Chris Giordano says they have changed the days the fair is open to accommodate the festivalgoers and will now only be closed on Mondays.

There are also parking and entrance discounts available from Tuesdays to Thursdays. Giordano says they have the largest carnival in Louisiana with 60 rides. He says the fair has a circus and a zoo with many different animal attractions.

Wayne Toups and Joe Diffie will be among the artists performing throughout the three week long fair. Giordano says the fair also offers different shows from break dancing to daredevil stunt acts. And he says every year the food vendors gets even wilder with their unique concoctions.

A Union parish high school student is suing the LHSAA for not allowing him to play his senior year, because he was held back in the 6th grade.  An LHSAA rule states that if a student is held back a year in middle school, he or she can only play three years of high school sports. The student’s attorney, Brian Blackwell, says the LHSAA’s decision violates the American with Disabilities Act, because the student repeated sixth grade because of ADHD.

Blackwell says the act requires reasonable accommodation for people with disabilities, and he is confident the court will rule in favor of this student.

Blackwell says teachers and doctors made a decision for this student that were in no way intended to challenge LHSAA’s eligibility rules. He says playing high school sports helps this student deal with his disability.

The LHSAA has not issued a statement on the case, but a court hearing is set for Friday.

It’s already a record breaking year in terms of voter turnout and early voting has just begun. Secretary of State Tom Schedler says more than 87-thousand people cast their vote yesterday. He says there was a brief issue in Jefferson Parish yesterday when a fiber optic line went out between the registrar of voters and the satellite office.

Schedler also tells concerned voters that the election is in no way rigged.

A poll from Southern Media and Opinion Research finds Republican John Kennedy is still leading in the U.S. Senate race with 22-percent, and Democrat Foster Campbell came in right behind Kennedy with 16-percent. Pollster Bernie Pinsonat says the number of undecided voters for the senate seat is 15-percent, down from the last poll.

A Baton Rouge man has been arrested after setting his wife on fire in September. Sgt. Don Coppola with the Baton Rouge Police Department says 28-year-old John Harleaux got into an argument with his wife and evaded police since the dispute. He says thanks to tips from Crime Stoppers they were able to locate Harleaux and he was booked in the parish prison.

The victim suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns to her arms, shoulder, and back.

State Officials have finished a 2-day meeting discussing the importance of coastal restoration in Louisiana before it’s too late. The master plan for restoration needs to be immediately revised and Governor John Bel Edwards thinks the cost of this plan will go up substantially. Officials believe they will have at least 10.7 billion dollars for the first 15 years of the 50 year plan.

Two former Angola state prison employees have been arrested for theft, according to the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office. 45-year-old Shirley Whittington of Angola and 51-year-old Deborah Leonard of Amite are accused of stealing 160-thousand dollars from an employee recreation fund. Both women turned themselves in to authorities today.

Republican State Treasurer John Kennedy is still leading the US Senate race polls, according to Southern Media and Opinion Research. Pollster Bernie Pinsonat says Kennedy, who polled 22-percent, isn’t far ahead of Democrat Foster Campbell, who polled 16-perent.

Saints cornerback Delvin Breaux was present at practice today. Breaux has been out since breaking his fibula in the season opener. Breaux said earlier this week that he’s been drinking a lot of milk in his hope to get back as soon as possible. Offensive tackle Terron Armstead missed practice as he re-aggravated a knee injury that forced to miss three games.

It’s opening night for the Pelicans who host the Denver Nuggets Last season, New Orleans was hampered by a slew of injuries. Six-foot-ten Anthony Davis played a career-low 61 games. Davis says he’s anxious to get the season started….

He says things turned violent when the woman called for her mother to come pick her up….
