All SNAP recipients in Louisiana will receive their full benefits this month. Governor Landry made that announcement today. He said some elderly and disabled recipients will get extra benefits after getting 25-percent assistance November 1st through the 4th.

A former University of New Orleans basketball player admitted to his role in a point shaving scandal. The NCAA accused Dae Dae Hunter and two of his teammates of intentionally trying to lose against the point spread in at least seven games last season. Hunter told ABC’s Good Morning America a bettor from Las Vegas viewed them as easy targets.

Hunter says he agreed to it so that he could get money to care for his newborn child.

A chemistry professor at Southeastern Louisiana University has filed a grievance against the school, asking to be reinstated as the lead of the Lake Maurepas Monitoring Project. William Most, the attorney who represents Dr. Fereshteh Emami (fuh-RESH-teh uh-MAH-mee), says she was removed after a report came out in which she described elevated levels of toxic metals and pollution in the lake.

The Caddo Parish community of Vivian is mourning the line-of-duty murder of a police officer. Marc Brock was among the officers investigating a cyberstalking complaint Friday evening against 58-year-old Nicolas Alexander, when investigators say Alexander opened fire through the front door, killing Brock. Caddo Parish Commissioner Chris Kracman, whose district includes Vivian, says Officer Brock accomplished so much in his short time on Earth.

Last night, there was a candlelight vigil at the North Caddo football field. Commissioner Kracman says people turned out in droves.

Kracman says the turnout at the vigil is a testament to how loved Brock was by everyone in and around Vivian.

Alexander was arrested and is charged with second-degree murder and cyberstalking. He’s being held without bond.

Head of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars says wins and losses weren’t the main reason why the decision was made to fire Green.

James Borrego was named interim head coach; and in the immediate aftermath of Green’s firing, Borrego said his job was to get the team to play hard, especially since there’s still 69 games to go in the season.

But last night, the Pelicans weren’t better. Although they showed fight after falling behind in the first quarter, they couldn’t keep up with the Golden State Warriors, and they lost, 124-106. Before the game, Pelicans fans at the Smoothie King Center gave their thoughts about the coaching change.

Most says the findings of Dr. Emami’s research caught university officials off-guard, and they immediately plotted to remove her from the project.

Emami is a tenured professor of chemistry and remains with the school in that capacity. Most says what the school did in removing her from the Lake Maurepas Monitoring Project is a clear violation of the First Amendment and a violation of her academic freedoms.

Southeastern says Dr. Emami’s complaint will be given due consideration to ensure that fairness and due process are afforded.

Almost 800,000 Louisianans receive SNAP benefits and Gov. Jeff Landry says all of them are getting their full federal benefits for November. Some elderly and disabled participants will receive extra benefits after getting 25% of state-funded assistance Nov. 1-4. U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brook Rollins said federal benefits would be available today and the Louisiana Department of Health says they are preparing to distribute the full federal benefits today.

More than 12-thousand drivers who have auto insurance through Allstate will see a decrease in auto insurance premiums next year. Jeff Palermo has the story…

LSU football ended its three-game losing streak this Saturday after defeating Arkansas 23-22. Just before the game, quarterback Garrett Nussmeier was ruled out with an abdominal injury, so sophomore Michael Van Buren got his first start, and he completed 21 out of 31 passes for 221 yards and a touchdown. He didn’t throw any interceptions but was sacked four times. Van Buren says his first SEC win is one he will not soon forget.

With the win, LSU is now bowl eligible. The Tigers wrap up their home schedule Saturday against Western Kentucky; kickoff is at 6:45. Their final regular-season game is a week later at Oklahoma.

The No. 5 LSU women’s basketball team will take a short drive down Interstate 10 to New Orleans this evening as the Tigers take on Tulane tonight at 6 p.m.

Trey Murphy led New Orleans in scoring with 20 points. James Borrego coached his first game as the interim head coach and says he will not take the opportunity for granted.

The Pelicans are back at it tonight as they will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder at 7 p.m.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. will be out for the foreseeable future after suffering a potentially season-ending knee injury during Sunday’s 30-27 loss to the Carolinas Panthers. The Falcons travel to New Orleans this Sunday to face the Saints and veteran backup quarterback Kirk Cousins is expected to get the start.

The Lafourche Parish School Board is under fire for its handling of a group of male students who share A-I produced nude images of female classmates. One of the victims was expelled for hitting a boy who had shared an image of her. Her father told the board that his daughter has suffered from depression so severe that he had to hire a counselor.

The board eventually reduced her expulsion to suspension. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office has charged one boy for sharing those images, and more charges are likely.

About 12-thousand drivers who have auto insurance through Allstate will see a decrease on their auto insurance premiums next year.   Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple says the rate decreases of 7 percent and 15 percent are good news…but tells us there’s more work needed to address commercial auto insurance…
