Severe weather throughout central and north Louisiana resulted in a tornado impacting Natchitoches Parish yesterday afternoon.  While there are no reported injuries at this time, Nachitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Capt. Tony Moran says authorities are asking for patience while utilities are being restored.

Moran says at this time, it appears that no polling places were impacted by the storm.

She’s facing two Democrats from rival factions, and two Republicans who LSU Shreveport Poli Sci Professor Jeffery Sadow says that could lead to a situation where one of the two major Republicans sneak into a run-off.

LSU linebacker Devin White says the two weeks leading up to the Alabama game were very emotional for him. White spoke to reporters for the first time since the controversial targeting penalty that forced him to miss the first half of last Saturday’s game. White believes he could have made a difference.

LSU Shreveport Poli Sci Professor Jeffery Sadow says Tyler had a falling out with one of the city’s major African American political factions, leading to a surprising inter-party challenge.  That Democratic challenge comes courtesy of 33-year-old Army vet Adrian Perkins and 32-year-old Caddo Parish Commissioner Steven Jackson. Sadow says Perkins has mounted the most substantial challenge and poses a real threat.

So far the only controversy on this election day is the lack of “I voted stickers.” Several people who voted today went on social media expressing their disappointment they didn’t receive n “I voted” sticker. A spokesperson for the Secretary of State’s office blames budgetary constraints. While one of the candidates in the Secretary of State’s race is using the hashtag Make Stickers Available Again.

UL Lafayette Poli Sci Professor Pearson Cross says Louisiana voters will have one, major chance to reshape their state with a hugely consequential amendment choice, the number two amendment option. That’s the one that would require unanimous jury verdicts in felony cases. Cross says indications of higher turnout bode well for the historic change.

National pollsters are predicting a tight race for Congress today, giving Democrats a slight edge to retake the lower chamber, but next to no chance to gain control of the Senate. Democrats are cautious, but confident of their chances in the House, and Congressman Cedric Richmond says that’s due to a strong pro-working class message.

Democrats say the 1.6 trillion dollar tax bill that slashed upper income and corporate tax rates is helping their case today, But Republicans are all in on their tax cut, saying it’s helped revitalize the economy and hope voters will reward the party with another two years of federal dominance. Congressman Ralph Abraham predicts the economy’s recent growth will lead to a narrow majority for the House GOP.
