LSU has done it, they’ve won three straight elimination games to advance to the championship round of the College World Series. Tommy White sent Tiger fans into a frenzy when he blasted a two-run home run in the 11th for a two-to-nothing win over Wake Forest last night. It will go down as an iconic moment. LSU will face Florida in the championship series, which gets underway tomorrow night.

Ochsner Health and MD Anderson Cancer Center have partnered to build an Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center in southeast Louisiana with six facilities in the New Orleans area, Baton Rouge, and Covington. Medical director Dr. Brian Moore says the immediate impact of the partnership is a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach and the wider availability of clinical trials for patients in Louisiana.

Governor Edwards has signed a bill that bans corporal punishment in public schools unless there is written consent from the parents. Metairie Representative Stephanie Hilferty says some lawmakers, however, wanted their schools to have the option to use corporal punishment or not in schools.

The new policy will go into effect in the upcoming school year.

MD Anderson in Houston has been the place to go to get cutting edge cancer treatment, but Louisiana residents can now get that care in the Bayou State as MD Anders and Ochsner Health have entered a ten-year agreement to provide a fully integrated cancer program at seven facilities in southeast Louisiana. Medical director Doctor Brian Moore says they will use a multidisciplinary approach…

The NCAA has finally put to bed a four-year investigation into the LSU football and men’s basketball programs that looked into alleged recruiting violations and impressible benefits. Both programs will be on probation for the next three years, but no future postseason bans. Former LSU men’s basketball coach Will Wade has been suspended for 10 games at his new school McNeese State. Tiger Rag Editor Todd Horne says the Cowboys already planned to suspend him for the first five games…

Authorities have confirmed the heat-related death of 62-year-old Tina Perritt of Keithville, who was without power for an extended period. SWEPCO spokesperson Doug Warner says more than 4,000 workers have responded to the widespread outages from last Thursday’s storms.

The small village of Simsboro in Lincoln Parish is in shock after learning the Ardagh Glass Packaging Plant will close next month. The plant’s 245 employees were told Wednesday and Simsboro Mayor Sybil Smalling-Foster says news of the closure is a complete surprise.

The NCAA has placed LSU on three years probation for alleged recruiting violations involving the men’s basketball program and former head coach Will Wade. The football program is also on three years probation because of impermissible benefits given to the family of former offensive lineman Vadal Alexander. The school is also forced to vacate 37 victories that took place from 2012 to 2016.

LSU remains in the College World Series. The Tigers have to beat the Demon Deacons tonight to remain in contention. The winner of tonight’s game advances to the championship round to play Florida in a best-of-three series beginning Saturday night.

North Central Louisiana is losing 245 jobs as a glass plant in Lincoln Parish tells its employees they are shutting its doors next month. Brooke Thorington has the story…:

A week of record June heat plus six days without power to cool off has resulted in at least one death in northwestern Louisiana, after the severe storm system with a tornado that knocked out power to over 200-thousand customers. 62-year-old Keithville resident Tina Perritt passed away in a heat-related death. SWEPCO’s Doug Warner says the damage was extensive, with almost 800 utility poles knocked down…:

Around 16-thousand customers are still without power. SWEPCO hopes to have them reconnected soon.

The coast Guard reports they have found the wreckage of the submersible lost Sunday while headed to see the remains of the Titanic; thousands of feet down.
