Governor John Bel Edwards signed into law legislation that bans the use of the popular video-sharing app TikTok on government-issued devices and networks. Bill’s sponsor, Marksville Representative Daryl Deshotel says 30 other states have taken similar steps, and several state agencies have already moved internally to head it off…:

Tik Tok has been accused of embedding spyware on users’ cellphones, tablets and pc’s.

It’s been a week since state officials announced the big cyber-breach at the Office of Motor Vehicles, and thousands of Louisiana residents have taken steps to protect their personal information. GOHSEP Director Casey Tingle says, if you need help with yours, visit “nextsteps.la.gov”…:

Tomorrow has been declared “LSU Baseball Day.”  Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin made it official with a proclamation in honor of the Tigers baseball team making it to the championship round of the Men’s College World Series. After winning in extra innings last night, Ardoin says he wanted to formally honor the team…:

It was a week ago when the state alerted Louisiana residents with a driver’s license or state ID that their identity may have been comprised as a result of a cyber breach involving a third party vendor that the state Office of Motor Vehicles uses. Louisiana has seen a week of record and near-record heat for the month of June and forecasters say prepare for some triple-digit heat next week. State Climatologist Barry Keim says for the weekend and through about Tuesday, we can expect more of what we’ve seen the past several days…:

In case you missed it, we now have Tropical Storm Cindy out in the Atlantic; tracking a path more to the north of Tropical Storm Bret. At this time, neither system seems to pose any threat to Louisiana’s coast, but we will continue to monitor them.

Governor John Bel Edwards is expected to get out the veto pen next week, as he’s said he would oppose bills seen as being “anti-LGBT” that came to his desk. But, will state lawmakers feel the need to go into special session to override any of those vetoes? Denham Springs Rep. Valarie Hodges says she wants it to happen, because the bills deal with transgender issues parents want to shield their kids from…:

The bill would also ban any other app or service developed by TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, or entities the company owns.

Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin has proclaimed this Saturday, June 24^th as “LSU Baseball Day” in honor of the Tigers baseball team making it to the C-W-S. Ardoin says he wanted to formally honor the team and he’s going to place a wager on the series with Florida’s Secretary of State Cory Byrd.

Following the massive restoration effort by SWEPCO crews 90 percent of customers impacted by Friday’s severe weather have had services restored. However, more than 10,000 customers remain without power in Shreveport district including Bossier City and Haughton.

After 11 innings the LSU Tigers won in dramatic fashion last night beating Wake Forest two nothing to advance to the championship round of the College World Series. After a Dylan Crews base hit in the 11th inning, Tommy White slugged a two-run shot over the left field wall. White says he was waiting on a fastball.

The best out of three championship series against Florida begins Saturday.

The NCAA investigation into recruiting violations involving LSU’s men’s basketball and football programs is finally completed. Both programs have been put on a three-year probation, but no future postseason bans. TigerRag Editor Todd Horne says the conclusion of the investigation removes a dark cloud hanging over the head of current LSU Basketball Coach Matt McMahon.

The three-year probation for both teams begins in September.

The U-S government approved a ban on TikTok on federal government devices throughout all 50 states.

Governor Edwards also signed legislation that bans corporal punishment in public schools statewide unless parents give written consent. Metairie Representative Stephanie Hilferty says the Department of Education is tasked with creating a permission slip for schools.
