Beginning today, extra law enforcement will be patrolling Louisiana’s roadways, looking to make sure you’re buckled up. During Thanksgiving weekend last year, there were 10 fatalities and more than 100 accidents with serious injuries. LHSC spokesman Greg Fisher says the state’s passenger safety law requires everyone in a vehicle to be properly restrained. He says a ticket is better than a tragedy.

There’s also a pretty contentious run-off in Shreveport-Bossier city though. It’s a senate race between two current state representatives, Democrats Cedric Glover, and Sam Jenkins. Political Analyst Bernie Pinsonat says it’s just too close to call…

Tonight’s the final night game of the year in Tiger Stadium as LSU hosts Georgia State. The Panthers are 6-4 on the season and on a three-game losing streak. They have some good skill position players. Georgia State quarterback Dustin Grainger is a three-year starter for the Panthers and he’s thrown for nearly two-thousand yards, 14 touchdowns and five interceptions. Georgia State’s running back Marcus Carroll is the third leading rusher in F-B-S, with 1,206 yards. But the Panthers have struggled on defense. Kick-off is set for 7.

Spokesperson Greg Fischer says state troopers and local law enforcement will be on the lookout to see if drivers are buckled up…

Despite all the rain we’ve seen this week, the latest draught monitor sows 99 percent of the Bayou State is still in severe drought…with 40 percent less rainfall than usual for this time of year. More rain is in the forecast for next week…so what will that mean?

Voters in Louisiana are headed to the polls today and experts say voter turnout could be lower than the dismal 36 percent we saw in the October primary. The seventh ranked LSU Lady Tigers went on the road last night and defeated Southeastern Louisiana 73-50. But the big story centered around Angel Reese, who was not at the game. The All-American did not make the trip after getting benched for the second half of Tuesday’s game. Coach Kim Mulkey said afterwards that Reese is part of their team and they hope to see her sooner than later.

We’ve seen a lot of rain this week, but 99 percent of Louisiana still remains under severe drought.  Since August 1st State Climatologist Barry Keim says Louisiana has received 6-point-four inches of rain, but 15-point-seven inches would be considered normal for that time period.

But Keim says there’s some hope for the state. We’ll see a warm front followed by a cold front that will produce widespread rain once again.

After a voter turnout of only 36 percent in the October primary, political analyst Bernie Pinsonat says it could be even lower for the runoff. He says Republicans are favored to win all three.

The LSU men’s basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak on Friday as they topped North Texas 66-62. Will Baker had 16 points to lead the Tigers. LSU held the Mean Green to 32-percent shooting.

The Pelicans outlasted the Denver Nuggets last night as Zion Williamson had 26 points in a 115 to 110 win.

In the high school football playoffs last night, Central went up to Monroe and defeated Neville 17-16, Alexandria Senior High blanked Brother Martin 23-0. Rummel over Captain Shreve 13-to- and Lake Charles College Prep downed Catholic of New Iberia seven to three.

Former LSU star Joe Burrow has suffered another season ending injury as he has torn a ligament in his right wrist. Burrow suffered the injury in Thursday night’s loss to Baltimore. Cincinnati is 5-and-5 and in last place in the AFC North.

No Saints game on Sunday as they enjoy a bye weekend. New Orleans is 5-and-5 and in first place in the NFC South a half game ahead of Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers are at San Francisco. The Saints next game is November 26th at Atlanta. The Falcons are on a three-game losing streak and they are also off this Sunday.

the Cincinnati Bengal will be without former LSU Quarterback Joe Burrow for the rest of the season. Burrow was visibly shaken by his inability to grip the football after a second quarter injury sidelined him in Thursday night’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. Burrow was ruled out for the game due to what was believed to be a wrist sprain. It is now known Burrow suffered a torn ligament.

An LHSC report found at least 55 percent of adults killed in a vehicle crash in the Bayou State last year were not properly wearing their seat belts. Spokesperson Greg Fischer says a first offense for not wearing a seatbelt is $50 and $75 for repeat offenders. He says their latest observational survey found fewer than 15-percent of people in Louisiana go unbuckled…
